Low-carb bootcamp

Week 5 - Low Carb Bootcamp - the end of the first half

Morning all.

A very early start to this week's chat thread, as I'm 8 hours ahead of the UK right now.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness one more time

Hopefully by now, low carbing is starting to become a habit rather than a hardship. We're out of the dreaded weeks 4 & 4, so for those who haven't seen much movement on the scales, things should start to get going again now (although don't expect to see huge losses from here on - around 1-2lbs a week is a normal and healthy rate of loss)

For those who aren't seeing any movement in the bathroom Grin make sure you're eating plenty of fat - see how you can find ways to add more fat to your diet. Similarly water. And look at what you're eating, and be sure that you're getting your carbs in the main from veg and salad.

I have noticed that there's a fair bit of slippage cheating starting to creep in, and I'm calling you all on that! Remember that this isn't an especially forgiving way of eating, and if you cheat, you won't lose!

But good luck for the rest of the week

Morning all,

A 1lb gain for me this week, which is hugely frustrating as I have stuck to the plan. I have had the most horrendous exam and period this week however. I wonder if the stress has been a contributing factor; things were so bad I spent most of Saturday in bed.

I haven't managed to keep on top of the Week 4 thread but wanted to pass on my condolences to leapin. Such a sad time for you and your family.

Congratulations to Grimbles, such lovely news.

Anyway onwards and downwards (on the scale at least!) in Week 5. I am going on holiday in 4 weeks and my big birthday is in 6 weeks so hopefully I will make my goal.

I’ve gained too, could someone add my weight please - 136. Had a slight slip up yesterday, and not enough water and it’s my time of the month too so imagine it’s all contributing.

Off for a 3 hour exam this morning! Haven’t had an exam since I was 16 😳 Really hope I’ve done enough preparation! So not sure about breakfast today, I’m up super early and leaving before 7.

Have a better day all! Smile

2lbs off, which is the pound I gained last week and 1 more. I've worked hard for it to be honest, 4 weeks of strict bootcamp, no cheats as yet!
I do find eating the fat difficult but think I've done better this week so maybe that's why I've lost again.
Hope everyone else has a good weigh in today!

Morning all. Had a horrendous weekend food wise, yesterday I was so busy (DC's party, another DC off on camp for a week, another DC has 2 GCSEs tomorrow so I was helping him revise all evening) I ended up eating the inside of 2 egg sandwiches from the party food and two teaspoons of clotted cream from the scones, plus a small slice of DC's birthday cake, and that was it for my supper. Breakfast was chicken pieces and lunch was 90 sec low carb bread with pate, so I ended up with no veg or salad yesterday which is appalling, and not really enough water drunk as I was running around all day. Expecting a gain.

Ugh, period arrived 4 days early bringing with it a 2 pound overnight gain so I’m overall just one pound off this week. Hopefully that couple of pounds will disappear again afterwards though.
One pound off this week, 9 since the start of Bootcamp and 12 altogether.

Morning everyone! Happy to find a small loss this morning after scales didn't move apart from up during the week. Feel really good though, think I might have 'fully transitioned' as I seem to have plenty of energy, and let's face it, if my body's running just on fat, it's got a bountiful supply!
Worked for 9 hours in the garden on Saturday (would have not been able to do that 2months ago!) and only stopped because I suddenly realised it was 9.40pm and we hadn't had any dinner.
Although I'd be very happy to be thinner, it's becoming less about the weight loss and more about feeling so much better. To my surprise I've found that the low back pain and stiffness I have had for at least the last 15 years has almost completely disappeared, and my hiatus hernia is nowhere near as uncomfortable if I lie in bed on my front. I genuinely feel years younger and that is so much more important.
I finally got round to exploring my local footpaths a bit last week as we're new to this area. I've found a nice 40 minute circular walk I can do, and I really like that I can walk into the village and get most things I need. Where we lived before was really lovely, we lived there for 10 years extremely happily and were heartbroken when we had to leave, but this new place is growing on me and there are a number of advantages to living here that I'm just beginning to appreciate.
Anyway, enough of my rambling on, have a great day campers, here's to another week of awesomeness! xx

Slight deserved increase for me after a disgraceful Saturday. My scales are a bit weird though (daily weigher) to the point I'm going to try a new battery clutches at straws
Some disruption again next weekend visiting family but hoping for progress, I did see a real low this week so this short term gain should disappear quickly.

Morning all

Back off my holiday where I tried to low carb but not entirely successfully. I'm back up to 11:13 now which is a 1lb more than when I started bootcamp.

Back on it today - so here's hoping I get a good loss this week

1.4lbs off.

guymartin good luck for the exam!

Off to learn Practice Nursing today for my new Placement, very exciting. We get an hour for lunch so I'll have time to eat and have a walk each day. Taking salad with cut up burger and grated cheese with mayo. Will also take a pot of yogurt for breakfast as I'm not hungry yet.

Morning! Hmmm. Slight gain this week. Very frustrating as I've been strict. Think maybe I need to look at portion size. On the plus side, like Waswitty and other bootcampers, I am feeling much better, so will carry on regardless and hope for a loss next week.

So sorry, Leap and Northern - big hug for you both.

Congratulations Grimbles - nice big vitamin smoothie for you Grin.

Good luck, Guy - I'll have a lovely creamy coffee for you half way through.

Waswitty, that's great stuff re feeling better overall. That's what I love about this WOE - total shift in mental and physical health (through proper nutrition) of which weight loss becomes just one aspect. Unlike those poor bastards still chasing syns and calories and merely on a slightly smaller, more uncomfortable, version of the same old hamster wheel.

My tentative lb - the important stone barrier one - fluctuated early in the week, but is now firmly gone. Perhaps taking another 1/2lb with it, but hard to tell on my ancient spring/dial scales. I've been a bit grumpy that my hip measurement hasn't changed in the last few weeks, but pulled on some shorts-style knickers yesterday, and instead of me plumping them out, they actually gaped around the legs. Seriously, about 4 inches pure air. Which is a very handy reminder that I am also losing from the places I don't measure! Grin

Morning everyone, thanks for the new thread BIWI

I'm down 2 this week which takes me into a new stone bracket. I'm delighted with this result because it was a hard week with having had mirena recently inserted and having period I was a hormonal mess and weight was not moving unless up. Seeing the next stone bracket so near but feeling like it wouldn't happen was frustrating.
Thankfully everything settled over the weekend and I feel normal againGrin
To all those feeling like that now, it will get better and any gain will go again, stick with it.

2lb off but I am expecting to have to work harder next week as I was a little bit crap last night for the first time since the start of boot camp, so I am guessing that's not reflected in the scales yet this morning.
I may try an egg fast for as long as I can bear it (two days max I reckon )

Morning all!

Half a pound down, which is cheering after my weight leaped up so much early last week. Getting under 13 stones seems a long long way away though.

I went through some clothes hanging in my son's room last week, and found 2 or 3 summer dresses I would so like to get into this year. Not sure that will happen but keeping on. And I do seem to be a bit less achey in the knees and ankles.

It's a maintain for me. I think well deserved not to lose after a poorly planned weekend. This is the last week of GCSEs (well, DS has one solitary one a week after all the others, but plenty of preparation time) and I am so tense everywhere, can't wait to be done. After today only chemistry and physics which are 2 of ds's better subjects so I feel like we're on the home strait.

Morning all. Could someone please enter my weight as the same (it's indexed from 100, not low!) as I'm away from my scales this week on holiday. Thanks in advance.

I've struggled finding suitable LC stuff the last two days apart from hotel breakfasts & have fallen off plan somewhat.

The uncomfortable result has been a return to vivid dreams like in the early days of Boot Camp, and horrible night sweats. Urrgh. My body, which has been happily running on fat for the last few weeks, really doesn't like the reintroduction of carbs it seems.

We are moving on somewhere else today so hopefully I will be able to find better food choices.
