Low-carb bootcamp

Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

@BIWI

Morning!

This is what I posted on the previous thread, advice appreciated!

What I'm struggling with at the moment is waking up several times a night needing a huge wee, then waking up in the morning as parched as the Sahara. Anyone know when this is likely to settle and I become able to actually retain fluid again rather than weeing it all out?

Thank you BIWI for the new thread and thanks for everything you’re doing for us BCers. I do read when I get chance, don’t get much time to post but am here and LCing my head off! Grin 6lbs down for me. 4lbs down for my DP who joined me until the weekend when he had all sorts of things he shouldn’t (toast, rice, baked beans, bread, potato salad, pasta and an ice cream literally as big as his head!) He was surprised this morning he hadn’t lost as much as me...that’ll teach him! Wink

I’ve added my weight to the spreadsheet but the blue column still says 0 while I’ve noticed others show their loss. Any ideas?

Thank you!

It's changed now, @Divette! Great result, and hopefully your DH will have learnt his lesson Grin

@BIWI thanks for the new thread!

I'm going to have a spinach and cheese omelette for breakfast (I'm not working today) to celebrate my 7lbs loss!

Yay!

Oh, and by the way, from your post on the other thread - pork scratchings are perfect low carb food, so don't worry about snacking on those!

Thanks @BIWI!
No loss for me this week, but I know why.
I have a history of disordered eating and I m finding it a bit hard as I am constantly thinking about what I am and what I am not allowed to eat, to the point of obsessive thinking.
I have stuck with it really well in the week, but at the weekend I had lots of corn cakes with hummus.
In my previous eating patter, these were 'allowed', so I am jist struggling a it with the mind set.
Oh well, a new week, a new start.

7lb loss and I've entered it onto the spreadsheet! NSV too - I'm now on the cusp of being 'normal' weight (having been overweight), and if i can keep losing 2lb a week after this, I'll be at target by the end of bootcamp!

3lb down here this week (7lb total) but I've lost 7% body fat over the two weeks. I'm hoping the weight loss will speed up. I was away this weekend and while I ate really carefully I did have a couple of Gin and Skinny T's, so I am going to be booze free now for two weeks and see how it changes (if it changes)
I have another 53lb to lose so I guess 3-4lb a week will see me there in ~15 weeks if I can sustain it, so it's not all bad.

Oh, and for all of you saying 'it's water weight', yes some of it is, a lot of it is the fact that you have used/are using up your glycogen stores - that's the energy that your body stores from carbs, in your liver and muscles. By consuming fewer carbs, you've used up this excess. A small part of the loss will be fat.

From now on, it will be fat that you're losing, which is why the rate of loss will slow down. Your glycogen stores account for anything from 3-7lbs, I believe.

This is why you see an initial loss low carbing that's generally higher than any other diet - any other diet doesn't use the glycogen.

Incidentally, when you hear people talk about marathon runners 'hitting the wall' or distance cyclists 'bonking', what they mean is that they have used all their glycogen up, for energy. It's why there are so many high carb gels and drinks that people use for these kind of events.

When we're fat-adapted, we won't experience that (in case any of you are thinking about running a marathon or taking part in the Tour de France Grin), because we use our body fat for fuel. And even elite athletes, who have very low body fat levels, have enough fat to fuel them.

2.5 lbs down for me : happy with that as I'm 4 weeks in to LCHF and in half a pound I shall have lost a whole stone. A stone!

My other half has also shed a few pounds, not from low carbing, but from the fact we have finally started eating at less ridiculous times most nights. And probably from a general cessation of chocolate. So he's pleased too.

Thanks @BIWI for the new thread.
-6lbs for me, even with my half a week of not enough water (If one is honest, one is still building up to the amount one is supposed to be drinking...Blush...don’t know why I’m finding it so tricky but getting there so, yay)

Morning all, congratulations on the weight loss!

I lost a huge amount for me last week so I wasn't surprised I stayed the same this week, impressed after my gin-fest.

BUT!!!

I have lost 4.5ins off my waist in 2 weeks and .5ins in my hips.

Glad I took measurements otherwise I would have been really upset today.

No change whatsoever for me. And I really do think I’ve been following the bootcamp rules (no cheating). Maybe next week will be different.

2lbs done for me. Not really surprised after the lemon tart on Saturday & rather a lot of wine yesterday. But I don't actually drink very often so the rest of bootcamp will be alcohol free.

Left over BBQ & salad for lunch today, not sure about dinner as DH is sorting it. Plenty of LC options in the fridge though.

Well done everyone.

No loss which to be honest was a surprise as a couple of people have said I've lost weight. I will carry on and hopefully see a loss next Monday.

2.6lbs off for me which is great in the circumstances: a slightly off piste weekend, the fact I'd had a mini-whoosh of holiday weight off the weekend before we started and also I'm fairly close to goal anyway.

Looking forward to the week, KOKO everyone whatever the scales have said.

0.8lb off for me. This is good though because I've been doing it for ages so I count 0.5 as a good win. Onwards!
