Breakfast ideas

Planning my meals for next week, but struggling with LC breakfast ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions? I often have eggs and bacon, but think I should cut back on the bacon, or porridge which is obviously out now, and I'm not particularly enthused by just eggs, or just yogurt, I don't think it'll fill me up till lunch, so I need inspiration please!

Slices of ham, spread with cream cheese (Philadelphia or soft goat's cheese are both good) and then rolled up.

I know you said you're not enthused by eggs, but they're great at filling you up - I often have an omelette with mushrooms (cooked in butter to soften them before adding the eggs), or spinach (again, wilted in butter before the eggs). Or cheese.

No need to treat breakfast as a special meal.

Eggs and yoghurt (probably not together Grin) are great - and bacon with your eggs is fine, as long as it's not every day, given that it's a processed meat.

Here's a lovely recipe for low carb, savoury muffins

Sausages and mushrooms (low carb sausages, obviously)

Or try a continental breakfast - sliced cooked meats with cheese

Smoked salmon with cream cheese

... or just leftovers from the night before

These ideas are great, thank you! I'd forgotten you could have sausages. I had eggs and mushrooms this morning and it wasn't toooooo bad, like the ham and cheese idea too. I sometimes have avocado but I often have it with lunch.

I'm just so used to have sweet carby things for breakfast it's a bit of an adjustment!

I also always have some LC veggies at breakfast - radishes, cucumber or celery with a "cold" meal, and wilted spinach, fried mushrooms, asparagus or cavolo nero with eggs/omelettes.

I have bacon at least once a week (Sat brunch), and I have made my own "tupperware chorizo" per Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and frozen it in individual portions. I take one the night before and leave it in the fridge, lovely fried with veg and I know exactly what's in it (no preservatives)

You could add sweetner to eggs and make like sweet egg wrap/ french toast with a sprinkle of cinnamon

Whoopsie or cloud bread roll

Slice of tomato topped with salami and mozzarella, bake in oven for approx 5-7 mins, until cheese has melted. Enjoy!

I like to have slices of salami with a slice of port salut inside for breakfast. Even caught my non low carber husband making himself this for breakfast at the weekend!

I love avocado with peppered mackerel with spring onions and lemon squeezed over.

I tend to have that or a fried breakfast with eggs, bacon or halloumi, mushrooms and kale.

Scrambled eggs with parmesan and some Greek yoghurt stirred in, so much tastier than just eggs!

Hello, I’m just starting LC. I usually grab breakfast on the go, banana and a croissant and a Waitrose coffee.
Obviously these are no-no’s.
Any ideas of things I can grab on my way to work? Or do I really need to be more organised?
Thank you.

The best thing I figured from doing LC is that you don't have to have breakfast foods for breakfast! Sometimes I would bring my leftovers for lunch and they'd be so appealing/yum that I would have them for breakfast! You can eat foods in any order as long as they don't make you sick :)

@Karcheer - LC eating isn't easy on the go - it's a high carb world! You will have to start being more organised I'm afraid!

I’ve started having a Purition shake for breakfast as I just don’t have the time to do anything more on a school day. It’s pretty low carb and you can add other ingredients if you want to and also contains a healthy dose of fibre and fat. It’s all natural no artificial stuff and so far I’m really pleased with it though I wish it were a bit cheaper. I use unsweetened almond or soya milk both of which work well.
