Low-carb bootcamp

Week 6 Thoughts and confession

Was just musing about carbs this morning (as you do!) and thought I'd write it down (and am now horrified by how much I've gone off track - sorry BIWI, I'll try to do better):

Chocolate, biscuits, cake, crisps:
Have, surprisingly, not touched any of the above since I started (I don't think), despite there being lots of the above in the house, including packets of my favourite chocolate biscuits. I bought some sherbet pips just before starting this, and cola bottles on day 3, yet both packets are sitting, unopened, in a cupboard. Haven't touched my Easter Eggs either (though that's not entirely strange, there are still chocolates in my Advent Calendar! - but I tend to save 'nice' things but still manage to eat a whole load of junk normally.). I'm really not bothered about any of it. DP is planning a film night with Doritos and dips and while I'll probably have a couple I'm not really looking forward to them as I would usually.

Bread, pasta, rice:
Had some of the above during BC, mainly as I needed to eat gluten for medical tests. Bread I can take or leave (which is surprising as I used to eat loads of the stuff), pasta now feels strange in the mouth, and is totally unsatisfying (last time I had some I had to eat loads as it was just not filling me up). Would be quite happy never to eat it again.

Fruit:
Have discovered my body doesn't like it, which is probably why this woe has made such a difference to me, as I used to eat loads before. Have had a wee bit recently (and discovered the above) but, since I thought this would be the thing I craved most I'm happy that I don't at all.

Puddings:
I've had a few times and realised last night that I can have the tiniest portion with lots of double cream and I get just as much enjoyment as I used to with a large portion. Just a smidge on a spoon still means I get the taste.

I need to get back on track and toss the puddings. I know my weightloss would have been better if I'd avoided them entirely. But, at the same time I'm amazed how my relationship with all the above have changed completely. So thank you BIWI!!!!!

Just come across this time, and I think I can echo most of what you've said. In fact re the pudding, I can now just eat the cream, why dilute that gorgeous creamy goodness with sugarGrin
