Low-carb bootcamp

My name is inaclearing and I ....

am a 48 yr old fat person. I am 5ft4" and on Monday 1st September I weighed 14st 4lb.

I have severe asthma, high blood pressure, low thyroid and arthritis and I am addicted to sugar. I don't smoke and drink rarely.

Tbh I am fucked.

I have spent the last six years doing an OU degree and will graduate at the beginning of November with a 2:1 ( I have put on nearly half a stone for every year studying - mostly lemon drizzle cake and chocolate)

So I have a focus

I have been low carbing since Monday . It's been hard at times ( the shits) and I hope I can keep going.

I will post again on Monday with my weigh in.

Welcome to the wonderful world of low carb. I'm an old hand who has severely fallen off the wagon, desperately trying to climb back on.

If you haven't already, take a look at the bootcamp rules, posted on most of the bootcamp threads. You'll find a really easy 'how to' guide there.

If you can get through the first few weeks, you'll feel great - reduced hunger, loads of energy, and of course weight loss!

Best of luck - now to follow my own advice...

Hello and welcome, it appears you may have wandered into the most wonderful part of the forum. Congratulations Smile

I read a rumour that a new bootcamp is starting in October. I'd suggest you familiarise yourself with the way of eating and ease in, then you will enjoy that bootcamp immensely. They are very supportive and the one held this time last year turned my wasting habits around (ex carb addict). My health has benefitted tremendously.

In the meantime, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask and I or a more knowledgeable member like Chester will do their best to answer.

Wasting = eating. My waist has benefitted too!

Thank you both - I wasn't expecting a response - just wanted to document my largeness!

So doubly thank you ! I will keep an eye out for the October boot camp.

I have been uber good this week and I am feeling quite full . Looked on here last night for an Indian takeaway idea - had shashlick chicken, saag paneer and mushroom bhaji. DH commented about how much I ate of the main courses considering I usually have popadoms before and then just have a bit of someone's main course a bit of rice. I feel full after popadoms and rather bloated. Last nigh I felt full but not ill and bloated..... Maybe I have some gluten or wheat type intolerance!!!

Will post my weight loss tomorrow - fingers crossed

Well done! Have you found the spreadsheet of "rules" and the recipe thread? Well done for wrapping up your degree too, that's a great achievement.

I had a look yes - lots of information on there. My big issue will be having breakfast every day...I am not a morning eater!

Popodoms are made from chickpeas, so more likely a legume or simple carb problem.

It's very heartening to hear it's going so well so quickly: I started on Monday and feel lousy!

inaclearing you only need to eat breakfast for the first couple of weeks on Bootcamp - and to be honest, it doesn't need to be a lot. Just something to get some food into your system.

Well done! Just prepare yourself for the infamous weeks 3 and 4, where your weight loss might slow or stop altogether. Keep on keeping on, and it will start to shift again after that.

That's absolutely brilliant! You must be really chuffed.

Report
inaclearingstandsaboxer · 27/09/2016 22:47

I am chuffed!

But - I ate a quarter of a slice of toast (left over by small person) today. Didn't realise until I had swallowed. Not let any bread etc pass my lips for four weeks!

Fast forward six hours and I am bloated, got diarrhea and cramps.

I think that's an intolerance if ever I saw one!

Fuck - put on two pounds this week.

Been so good though!

Have been very stressed due to having a lump in my breast and having to go and have it looked at. It's fine though - all clear.

Keep on going keep on going....
