Sorry BIWI, you could have deleted mine, anyway now we have a new thread ...

Had impure thoughts about desserts today, always happens in cold, rainy weather which is a bummer in this climate I suppose.

Anyway took DD to watch ballet and we had a chat about how strong they are and how hard they work and that they probably don't eat ice cream or chocolate, thus shattering DDs dreams of ever being a ballerina and it cheered me up enormously as at least I get to eat better than I suspect they do I.e. Cheese, butter, cream, bacon etc We went out for dinner afterwards and my steak probably weighed more than the principle dancer Smile

BIWI I didn't tell SIL but it had all been arranged by DH via phone, so there wasn't really any time to tell her until we got there. I stayed away from the French Fancies though, and she didn't bat an eyelid at the pile of pizza base pieces stacked on my plate Grin

Without MN then I'd have thought 'fuck it' and eaten the pizza and had some gin but here I am with another bottle of water instead! Halo

Hello everyone on this new thread too! :)

Had a good day today.

B: smoked salmon / goat's cheese / cucumber, all with olive oil & salt/lemon
Snack: mozzarella & cucumber
L: leftover celeriac & buttered leeks mash / feta cheese / spoonful of bolognese / rocket

Dinner was at a restaurant with DH & DS. I was so surprised by the fact that the two of them were eating chips (amongst other carby things) & I impassionately looked at the chips and felt they do nothing for me! After 3 months of LC (on & off but far most of the time on) I honestly have no carb cravings any more.

I chose: olives to start with / then beef stroganoff with creamed spinach (checked it didn't have potato in it) & sautéed mushrooms. Lots of sparkling water too. I worry whether the stroganoff was thickened with some flour, but to be honest, it wasn't that much anyway (a small bowl), I didn't eat it all & if there were traces of flour after a week of 100% strict LC I won't obsess about it.

I raided Ocado just now for these konjac noodles which I had no idea existed! Added a few packets to my mid-week order Grin. Do they taste ok? And what on earth is konjac???

Report
BIWI · 21/05/2016 21:39

Konjac is also called yam, by the Japanese - but it's nothing like the yam that you might buy in the shops!

The noodles themselves are fairly tasteless, but they come packed in fluid, which smells very fishy. Drain them and rinse them really well before you cook with them.

Hello - am impressed that there is a new thread already!

Have been v on track with increased fat and found that I had dropped two pounds this morning! Was amazed as I would never normally lose anything on the day I get my period.

The food is going down v well, especially a coffee blitzed with coconut oil. I could never get on with a proper BPC. I have bought lots of breton butter with sea salt crystals in which to dip my radishes. We are harvesting a lot of asparagus this year too which it great! Mostly I seem to grow stuff that is not allowed.

Exactly what BIWI said about the noodles, don't be put off by the rather foul smell when you open them. Rinse really well and heat in the microwave, or toss in sauce until hot and ready to serve. They do need lots of sauce and can taste a bit rubbery until you get used to it. 1 pack is enough for 2 serves. You can also use them to bulk out dishes like a clear broth chicken and LC vegie soup.

I bought some lasagne noodles last shop and am going to make one this week with cottage cheese instead of bechemal sauce.

Hello all!

I tried some of this co-yo I read about and it was a bit strange at first but after the first two mouthfuls tasted luxurious. Loved it but so expensive! I going to try this new non carb noodles thingy. Do you get from normal supermarkets?

Today I had

B: eggs scrambled in butter
L: lamb curry and green leaf salad
S: Co-yo
D: salmon in butter with jalapeño tossed in, broccoli, cauliflower, some sour cream on the side.
S: two tablespoons of Ff yogurt

Water: 2 litres

Starting to get used to this new way of eating. Can someone tell me what bullet coffee is?

Report
KP86 · 21/05/2016 22:27

I imagine Waitrose stock them, haven't looked in other supermarkets.

B: Turk yog, clotted, coconut oil, peanut butter (bc lite)
L: BIWIs breakfast muffins - lovely and even restricted eater DD1 liked them. Result!
S: butter
D: sausages, broccoli, mayo and more cooked egg mix (so like a fake toad in the hole)
S: handful of something bc lite + chunk salami + square of something bc lite (being tactful)
W: 2.5 litres (getting better)
Feel utterly zapped- could be my version of carb flu (not normally like this but might be different cos I had the noro virus at beginning of the week). Could be PMT also. Also now not having any 'output' since the dramatic opposite of this due the virus, so who knows.
Anyway, pretty reasonable day.

I got noodles with 0.1 carbs in Morrisons. I think they're called Naked. Mine don't smell fishy but they are expensive!

Hello all! Overdue checking in - been a mad couple of days. Thanks to those who responded to my m&s panic. I ended up buying salmon and what i thought was a pack of mini mozzarellas. Couldn't open the salmon packet and so went for the cheese only to spill the water all over my work trousers and discover it was a big ball instead of minis. Had to stand on the street with wet trousers whilst stuffing a mozzarella ball. That and I had to get rid of the potato, beans etc so piled half in to the Tupperware that had housed my smoked salmon and celery cream cheese roll ups and then discretely dump in the bin. Bloody nightmare!

So catching up:
Thurs B - smoked salmon roll ups
Lunch - mozzarella
Snack - celery and cream cheese
Dinner - second night of Ipd cottage pie (with aubergine, courgettes and cauliflower/cheese/egg topping)

Friday B - full fat fage yog
L - avocado, mozzRella, tomato, olive oil, mayo plus a bit of leftover cottage pie
D - sausages in pasta sauce, sour cream and Parmesan

Really chuffed about today. Had family visiting which is normally a wine and cake fest. I didn't touch either!
B - sausage and mayo
L - Ipd homemade Thai fish cakes and salad with tomato, avocado, lettuce and lots of mayo
Snack - yog
D - Ipd marinated lamb chops (Fage yog, chilli, cumin, coriander, garlic, white wine vinegar) with green beans and yog/sour cream

Wow second thread already!

In bed after a Saturday night without wine! Unheard of. Feeling very pleased with myself and it wasn't even difficult.

Food today

Brunch - Biwi's muffins with two Black Farmer sausages
S - two Black Farmer sausages
D - chicken curry with courgetti

Lots of water and two herbal teas. Three cups of normal tea with a dash of milk this morning.

Breakfast this morning was nice. I had:
2 sliced tomatoes with ground pepper
sliced avocado
some chopped up pieces of cold chicken leftovers
all mixed up with a dash of Balsamic vinegar.

I've just made an Americano- I recently learnt it is the posh name for a black coffee. Anyway it is ok but I do prefer a latte Sad.

Good morning chopsticks! Glad to see someone else up early on a Sunday too!

I always thought an Americano is basically a filter coffee?Confused Is a 'black coffee' the same thing? Anyway I've made myself some lovely black coffee--I bought one of the great new (expensive but worth it) waitrose coffees from its new range and enjoying it before everyone else wakes up.

I didn't have a very good day yesterday. Very tired and sore. The weather wasn't great and I would have liked to hibernate but both ds2 and ds3 had things on so had to keep going. I almost stuck to my meal plan but didn't cook for the adults at dinner so we had a cold chicken thigh and some cheese and cucumber. Possibly to much dairy! My ketoStix tell me I am in ketosis which is good.

Day 7 today, yay!
B. FF yogurt and a BIWI breakfast muffin. Coffee with cream.
L. Chicken thigh, salad with mayo
D. Roast lamb, celeriac chips and broccoli with butter
2 cups tea with splash of milk
1 more coffee with cream

Chops have you tried cream in your coffee? I used to love lattes, but since BCing, I find them too sweet. Even when I fall off the wagon, I stick to the cream as they are so lovely.
Not sure what I'm going to have for breakfast and lunch today, have lots of BC friendly food it, so it'll be good.
Dinner is pork loin, I chose the joint with the nicest looking skin. Love crackling, unfortunately so do my DC. Will have with celeriac and leek mash and other permitted veg. MIL will bring pudding, but I will resist.

Well done to everyone who resisted the wine last night, it'll be worth it. Only one more Fri/ Sat night to get through then we can have it. As I'm working this w/e, I couldn't drink anyway, so no temptation for me. Grin

Morning all, I find weekends are the hardest not to stray and it sounds like everyone is doing great, myself included. Smile

Food wise not sure today as we are at a family thing and don't know what food will be there, hopefully BBQ. One thing for sure though - if I can't have it I won't be eating it!

Has anyone frozen the breakfast muffins?
