Low-carb bootcamp

not hungry on LCHF so hardly eating / is this a problem?

I've been following LCHF boot camp for past few weeks and have seen a difference on the scales. My worry now is that I rarely feel hungry. Take today for example, I had a coffee with double cream at breakfast 6am and then next ate at 5.30pm when I ate some full fat Greek yogurt. I am genuinely not hungry but that can't be good?

Same yesterday, although slightly better. Coffee at breakfast and then nothing until dinner at 7.30which was lamb chops oven baked in butter alongside Spring green and garlic again cooked in butter.

Should I just force myself to eat more? I'm worried I'm not eating enough and my metabolism will slow right down and I won't lose anymore (got about 1 stone to lose).

Any thoughts or help greatly appreciated

It's one of the great benefits of low carbing! Because your blood sugar levels are stable, you are much less hungry. Your hunger levels aren't so much about having an empty stomach, it's more about being controlled by hormones.

However, I would caution you against not eating for long periods of time - even if it's only something small, try and have something for lunch - this will ensure that your blood sugar levels remain stable.

But all sounds like it's going well for you!

Coffee and yoghurt is not a healthy diet. I wouldn't eat like this even for one day.
You need a range of foods and nutrients. And enough calories to function.

Eating 'often' or small amounts does not stabalise your blood sugars . 2 larger meals have a much better profile. You probably need to up your veg intake in my opinion

Please ignore the above poster, OP. 'Enough calories to function' is entirely meaningless on LCHF.

It is perfectly reasonable to only eat when you are hungry, and following a LCHF way of eating will naturally mean that now and again you will have times when you really don't feel particularly hungry. Your body is utilising its own energy stores, which is exactly how we've evolved to function and is perfectly healthy.

I would certainly recommend drinking some water/green tea during the day - but don't worry about the lack of hunger as long as you are feeling well in yourself. We are so conditioned to think we should be eating several times a day but it's really not the case. You will have hungrier days sometimes anyway! Glad that LCHF is working for you Smile

Thanks everyone. It's really hard to mentally accept the lack of hunger! I am so used to eating all the time. I will continue to only eat when I feel hungry but will ensure I add veggies to whatever that is to keep it balanced.

I'm drinking loads of water and my skin is almost glowing -as much as a 40 something skin glows-
