Thought we could post here when we've done a work-out and not clog up main thread. I'm really hoping that it will speed up the weight loss a bit and tone up my numerous wobbly bits!

I'm starting with L1 D1 of the 30 Day Shred tomorrow - DD doesn't think I can commit to it - I'll bloomin well show her!!

Is this thread just for shreddies? Or can we log other exercise, too? I'm going to the gym later and as I've just rejoined, it will incentivise me to post about it, please.

Aha here you are! mustbemad I'm going to call today my 1/29 as well even though I started 4 days ago, because having you and others doing it is a million times better than on my own. I also work from home and factor in dog walking as exercise too! Had a lovely walk yesterday as it was the only decent day in a long time. Wondering what today's walk will be like....may be more like a quickie round the block. Do you have somewhere nice to walk?

moonbark I am sure this thread is for ALL exercise? I would love to hear about your gym achievements!

Mook yes more the merrier! Hopefully we will all motivate each other to keep going. What are you doing at the gym? Cardio, weights or both?

Nigella so glad to have a shredding buddy! I've walked the pooch - very windy here. Yes lots of fab walks but very muddy ATM. How about you? I do like working from home as it fits with family life so well but I think it's played a major part in the weight gain - too much grazing all day. Fridge pickers wear big knickers! Will you move onto Level 2 after day 10?

Grin @ fridge pickers! That's a new one to me!

Yes, also fab walks where I am. Have to pop in the car for 5 mins to get to the nicest place but that's no trouble.

Well I'm thinking of what StuntNun said about staying on Level 1 - I might actually do that. She's right, there's loads of ways to make Level 1 harder, e.g., holding your weights when you do that punching thing.

mustbemad71 · 29/01/2016 13:51

Level 1 for me too. I did boot camp of outdoor/rolling in mud kind a few years back and slipped a disc so need to be careful - was in full on MLC ( midlife crisis) and thought I was 25 again! I do ashtanga yoga too - just started last Sept and love it. Need to practice more but find it hard on my own.

Morning!

Who is exercising today? Just done Shred so now 2/28. Had slight DOMS this morning. Dog walk in beach later and maybe a few sun salutations now as don't think Jillian does enough stretching!

Morning must I was half way through posting last night when mayhem ensued in the Bark household (see other thread for details Grin)
I went to the gym yesterday, did an hour of aerobic activities, then headed for a quick swim - 11 lengths, didn't do longer because a. I forgot my goggles and b. I was knackered. Definitely have a bit of DOMS today. I won't get chance to do any formal exercise today, but will walk the dog this afternoon for about an hour and should, hopefully, be able to go tomorrow.
Well done with the shredding, I did it a few years ago, she also does some other DVD's. If I remember correctly, Ripped in Six was my favourite.

Yes i've shredded this morning, so now also 2/28. Gardening later, plus dog walk.

I agree Jillian doesn't seem to do very much stretching - sometimes I carry on at the end and do them for longer / do some different ones. I've never had an injury from the shred though (I've done it many times in the past) so the stretches she does are probably sufficient for lots of people. Just a case of adapting the workout for individual needs. For example, this will sound like cheating, but it really isn't, for me...... I am just doing the stomach crunches for a whole minute for each circuit. I just physically can't do those other abs exercises yet - need to give it a while longer I guess!

Well done for yesterday moonbark - 11 lengths sounds like a lot to me! What is DOMS?

Report
mustbemad71 · 30/01/2016 19:01

Doesn't sound like cheating nigella am sure any type of abs just as effective. I'm really sore tonight but determined to keep going! DOMS is delayed onset muscle soreness!

Mook 11 lengths after an hour in gym is bloody impressive! I have two stroppy teenagers so can relate to the angry crafting! Was laughing at your post!

Aha DOMS makes sense - I currently have that in my sides. Think it must be from those sideways things where you lift the weights up in front of you at the same time - that's the exercise I find the hardest.

I am not shredding today - back to it tomorrow. I'm not going to beat myself up about it. Dog walk later, too much of a hectic morning with teenagers to do much else!

mustbemad71 · 31/01/2016 11:50

Morning!

Nigella not shredding either - too sore and on teenager duties here too! We shall be 3/27 together tomorrow!

Mook how are your DOMS this morning?

Evening.
Must DOMS was better today, although I had IOMS today - immediate onset muscle soreness ok, might have made that up. Ive walked the dog for about one hour, forty five minutes today in total. Ive been to the gym where I mainly ran - 5 min warm up, 25 min slow run, 4 min cool down. Then did some stretches and planked. Then I swam for either 10 or 12 laps, lost count half way through so not exactly sure.
Tomorrow, I'll be doing absolutely nothing Grin

I'm excerising too during Bc, and sticking to bc, not moving to be lite. I appear to have set my self a regime:) excercise DVD every morning, running after work and then Pilates DVD at night. Keeps me out of the fridge:)

I can't go to the gym everyday as I have everyday stuff to squash in, but I need to make it a habit - spare time = exercise.

I am going to the gym every lunchtime, that is 40 min of exercise. I manage to get very sweaty by 20th minute Grin

Good for the soul and for my brain too. I always get out smiling and happy.

I either run 30 min of it very slowly or do some HITT of bits and pieces I learned from PT or observing others.

Shred done here too = 3/27

mustbemad - go by how your clothes fit, not the scales. Muscles start to weigh more as they get toned up. I bet your trousers will feel a bit looser soon, regardless of the odd lb or two gained or lost.

Lavender - respect to you, that's fantastic exercise! What exercise DVD do you do, out of interest? antimatter I agree about good for soul and brain - must be endorphins and all that stuff! have a great workout this lunchtime!

Keep going everyone!!!!!

Nice to see some more posters. well done all of you.
Must I'm up a bit, too. Sorry to bust the muscle myth, but it's unlikely to be that. However, when you exercise, your muscles get stronger by little micro tears and it's the healing of these that makes are muscles strengthen. When you start exercising, this repair makes you retain water to help the repair process. Don't worry, it won't last and you'll soon pee it off again.
Rest day for me today, I'm hoping to go to the gym on the way to work tomorrow. May be a problem with that a, I'm not very good in the mornings and b, it looks like I might be in work late tonight. i'm not going to go to the gym if I end up working after midnight!

NigellasGuest · 01/02/2016 12:32

thanks for the info Moonbark about muscle repair process. Still good news though, isn't it! does it matter about exercising every single day though? I find a couple of days off a week is good if I'm doing weights. I didn't do anything yesterday in the end. Don't blame you for not wanting to work til the small hours!

Waves to Stuntnun lavender and Anti! Good to see more exercisers posting so we can all motivate each other! Nigella I agree - I can't see myself shredding without the odd rest day. My 44 year old knees are not up to everyday!

The first time I did the 30 Day Shred it took me more than 70 days to complete it. It still did me the world of good - all over body toning. I also found out where every creaky floorboard was in my living room, so I knew where not to do all the jumping exercises.

Report
lavenderhoney · 01/02/2016 20:27

Mustbemad, it's focus T25. I also walked the puppy, but only for 20 mins, before pick up. I've found exercise DVDs at night don't work for me, so I get up v early and do it, shower and get ready for work then wake the DC.

I also dash to the gym straight from work- I've got 40 mins so I run as far as I can as fast as I can. Which isn't very fast:)

I like excerising because I'm actually quite vain, despite putting weight on, ( ahem) and spring will be here soon, and I want to wear my usual clothes!

Has anyone tried compression pants? Where I have had 2 cs I have an overhang which hurts a bit when excerising. Perhaps I'll try Spanx:)
