Low-carb bootcamp

Week 3 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Where We Have a Decision to Make!

BIWI · 02/02/2015 07:40

Morning all.

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

So we've finished Bootcamp! Well done all Flowers or at least to all those who are still with us Grin

Now you have a decision to make. You can move on to Bootcamp Light, if you wish, which is more relaxed (to a degree). The rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet - sorry, I don't have time to copy/paste this morning as I have to get off to work about 10 minutes ago.

But essentially it means that you can introduce nuts and berries - in moderation. You no longer have to have three meals a day. If you're not hungry, then it's fine to skip a meal - as long as you don't then dive into a pile of carbs when you get hungry! And you can have alcohol - again, in moderation.

If you're happy with the stricter Bootcamp then by all means stay on that, but please, please, please make sure that your carbs are coming from vegetables and salad. It's important that you get nutrition from these.

Or you can, if you like, do Bootcamp at the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

However

There is also something else you need to prepare for, and that is the dreaded weeks 3 and 4 slowdown!

It's something that lots of people experience. The weight loss suddenly stops, for no apparent reason. If this happens, don't worry and don't panic that you're doing anything wrong (assuming that you're not, of course Wink), just keep on keeping on, and it will get going again - albeit at a slower rate.

From here on, you should be expecting to see a loss of 1-2lbs a week.

Good luck everyone!

Morning Smile Essentially STS but my period started today....

I put 2lbs on. Sad I was on wk 5 as started early.

I think it's a combination of the alcohol on Friday night, not enough water and then some water retention from two long runs this weekend.

Hopefully it will be gone as quickly as it came.

I'm staying on Bootcamp but would have done that anyway. Smile

Woop woop- 4lbs off!

Am so happy.

Today a friend and I are having a day charity shop shopping, which normally involves, coffee and a cake, lunch then more coffee and cake.

More willpower required. I can't say LC is a way of life yet, but I am getting there.

Morning bCampers Smile

I've lost 1lb, i think it's more like 0.5 but it's going in the right direction!

I had my first eating out LC yesterday and chose steak and salad with dressing on the side instead of carvery.

Still a metric tonne of tomato's but no chips and I didn't even eat the peas

I'm a lifelong dieter new to LC so I think it would be better for me to stick to BC and maybe BCL at the weekends.

Have a good un Grin

Morning all, I was 4lb down until Thursday mornings jolly to Antwerp, mainly ok but did slip into the flavored beers on the last evening!! Coconut was my preferred option!
But straight back on it, weighed this morning and put .5 lb back on so not too bad
Starting at 3.5lb down in two weeks happy with that. I think I will BC in the week and light at the weekend.
Mr Costa needs to add a bit more carbs I think , he only had 10lbs to shift, he is 9lb down very quickly and has been troughing nuts and slurping his way through white wine and g&t the whole two weeks. Just worried he will continue loosing weight at that rate, he has a very physical job so can probably take more carbs??
Any how, good luck to everyone koko!!
Happy Monday!

Balls I STS. Bit disappointed as I haven't deviated at all but it is TOTM so I'm blaming it on that and I definitely feel slimmer.

I'm staying on BC until I've lost a stone but will add in the occasional berry! If I don't lose this week I'll cut down on the dairy.

Today:

B: eggs, salami
L: eggs, ham, salad, olives
D: salmon Raman with bare naked noodles, yoghurt
TONS of water!

STS - which I'm very happy about, given that I went completely off the rails this week.

I've tried everything I can think of to update the spreadsheet, but I can't seem to make it work. Would someone please put 202 for me last week, and 199 for this week?

I think I stayed the same last week because it ended up being TOTM on Friday. My cycles are a little unpredictable at the moment. I'm pleased to have lost three pounds, but am hopeful things will move a little faster and more consistently now. I haven't had any slips at all, so I hope it will pay off.

Despite my big night out on Saturday for a 40th - altho' stuck to the vodka and tonic - couple of glasses of red and then had a cheese type starter and steak and spinach, no pudding and then roast dinner with inlaws yesterday (meat and non-potato veg only - did sneak in a couple of carrots and a parsnip) - and it's my period week and it's week 4 for me I lost a 1lb......so with all things considered, I am very happy.

Also another who would like someone to kindly edit the spreadsheet for me please to 164. Thanks!
I am taking this from the lowest reading this week...and it was actually heading towards 163 but Saturday interfered.
Onwards and downwards. KOKO everyone!

Morning! I've been LCing for only ten days so I'm not going to make any changes, but I was already having one strawberry a day (woo!) and I bought some Brazil nuts at the weekend so I'm kind of already doing BCL I think. Although I don't plan to introduce alcohol unless there is a specific social occasion. I may give up breakfast once I've been doing it 2 weeks, I don't feel like I really need it.

mootime · 02/02/2015 08:20

Morning. Disappointing weight in for me. Stayed the same as last week, but had lost two lbs at the end of last week...
But it is week 4, and I didn't drink enough water at the weekend and I went to two social occasions which were tricky to ensure my carb count. So I'm KOKO and hope I get a better result next week.

Morning. I'm 194. Can someone add that for me please?

I was 193 yesterday, but expect I'll be 193 again at some point this week. Koko.

Well done for the losses.
I put 2lb on, which I'm reasonably ok with given that I went off the rails at the weekend and my period is due. So, 4lb net loss over the 2 weeks so far.
Like most others above, I'm going to do BC during the week and BCL at weekends. I'm hoping to have a better weigh-in next week.

Morning all. Well done losers.

There are no scales here at PILs so i have put my Sat morning weight on - which was 4lb loss. However, i anticipate this will be undone a bit from the few unavoidable carbs i have had over the last 2 days.

I am also going to continue to do BC in the week and BC lite at weekends.

It's my birthday this Sat and we are going away to Brighton for the weekend. I am currently scouring menus for which restaurants to eat in. I will allow myself some white wine/prosecco too.

BIWI - about the gravy, thanks for the tips. So do you drain the 'gravy' off the mince before you assemble the cottage pie then pour it over the top?

Report
BIWI · 02/02/2015 09:08

No - I just leave it in the meat - but you could do that if you want (although there's not masses of it)

Amaxpax

I'm pleased to have lost three pounds, but am hopeful things will move a little faster and more consistently now

Please see my OP!

You should be expecting to see a loss of around 1-2lbs a week - the rate of loss won't speed up, I'm afraid!

And also - for all of you, there may be some weeks where you don't lose anything (for no apparent reason) but then suddenly you'll drop by 3lbs! Losing in 'lumps' is very common.

supermum yes, I will update it once you give me your weight in lbs please.

Thanks for doing amaxapax and sass dixie.

yongnian I've done you.

I've STS this week but hopefully onwards and downwards from now on.

*PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE - IF AT ALL POSSIBLE CAN YOU UPDATE THE SPREADSHEET YOURSELVES?

I appreciate, from what I gather, that it's hard on the phone/mobile site, so if you have access to a laptop/PC later in the day, please could you try and do it then?

But if you don't have access, then obviously other people or Sayra will be able to do it - but please give your weight in pounds.

If Sayra has to convert all your weights as well as update the spreadsheet all the time, that's an awful lot of work!

Another 3lb down for me yayyy! it was 4lb down at my midweek weigh in but I slacked off on the water this weekend. If I can shed approximately 1lb a week for the reminding weeks I will be over the moon.

Only 1lb off this week, serves me right for having bloody ice cream.

I think I'm mostly going to stay on Bootcamp for another week, maybe have the occasional odd bit of fruit, but mostly not. Hopefully that will reverse the ice cream damage.

Breakfast today - slice of cheese
Lunch - butter fry up of courgettes, mushrooms and leftover baby meals - twice he fell asleep before he ate, so I had a plateful of sausage, veges and steak to use up and he won't have cooked food at lunch time (of course I ditched the mash though!) - it was very nice!
Dinner - mince thing with a whole Boursin cheese in, and konjac noodles.

Chipping - I wish I'd seen your original thread at the time, I would have backed BIWI to the hilt on dietary intervention. It annoys me STUPID that dietetic advice is the same for both type I and type II diabetes, when, prior to taking insulin, they couldn't be more different. Once insulin is introduced into the mix, of course carbs need to be taken or the insulin causes more problems - but if you have or are verging on having type II diabetes, then reducing carbs, especially simple ones, is by far the best thing to do.

Thanks Dixie

mrsk I had the same experience with the swede as you. Took about 3o mins in the microwave and was still hard in places. Confused

I am away for 5 days from Friday. I will not be eating anything that is off the menu though. I am determined. Grin

I will be drinking though. It is Ireland after all, they'll probably think I'm rude not too. Wink

I am in an hotel with a spa and gym on the Monday, so hopefully they will have a weight machine. If not I will have to weigh on the wed when I get back.

I went for a run yesterday (last time NY day) and I felt really good, but about 1 mile in got tight pain across my chest. Bloody trapped wind! I get it sporadically and have for over 10 years. It's related to having IBS.

Had to walk a bit and then run a bit for the other mile. burping 5 times along the way

I'll try again this week at some point.
