Low-carb bootcamp

The 'stone or less to lose portion size limiting support thread'

I gained this week so I've actually got more than a stone to lose now Sad

It was probably just time of the month, however, I'm pretty sure I won't get anywhere if I keep on mainlining cream!

So far today I've had:

2 coffees with ff milk
2 boiled eggs with butter
Waitrose prawn cocktail (was in a hurry) with salad leaves

Anyone in the same boat?

Yes, me! I am currently 10 st 12lb, would like to get down to 10 st ideally (I like nice round numbers).

My scales say I've lost 4lb this week, though I am sceptical. I did start Bootcamp in totm though, so I suppose it is possible...

Luckily the one thing this WOE really does for me is drastically reduce my appetite, so portion sizes don't tend to be a big issue as such, but I do love dairy so will be keeping an eye on it.

Today I have had:
Cup of tea, protein shake with cream
Bag of kale crisps, avocado and crayfish salad
1L water so far

Just having a coffee to take into a meeting, will take my water bottle too!

Dinner will be pork belly strips with...veg of some sort!

projectbabyweight · 20/01/2014 14:24

Hello tea! Your dinner sounds lovely, whichever veg you choose.

Sadly my appetite hasn't dropped, even after two weeks. Though I think it might be emotional sometimes rather than real hunger. Evenings are the worst, that's why writing what I eat on here should help.

Hello! can I join please? I only want to lose a stone too.

I find my appetite drops anyway once I get into ketosis, so not to worried about portions...

...however, start of week two and I've lost nothing. Nada.

And I definitely haven't cheated.

I wonder if I've been eating too many calories though? I thought it didn't matter, but apparently it can.

This time I was eating more fatty stuff because once when I did this before and stalled after a month it was suggested I wasn't eating enough fat.

Confused

Hi TinTins! You poor thing not losing anything Sad Is it a bad time of the month?

I've ordered some ketostix, hope it'll help motivate me. Maybe my appetite's not dropped as I've not been in ketosis yet? Fingers crossed for us this week!

Hi

Can I join too! I would like to loose about 10 lbs, I'm only 5' 2 and feel much happier at 8 stone, jeans were getting right and I had the beginnings of a double chin.

I feel like I'm eating the right stuff but maybe too much. I have eaten more eggs and more cream in the last few weeks than my previous 43 years!!

Durham - I've stalked you on the spreadsheet Grin and you've lost 2lbs, that's brill! Did you do the warm-up week? I seem to remember your name.

I've had:
another coffee, 2L water
salmon fillet in oil with roasted courgette
ff yoghurt

Feel full now but likely to want a snack later (will have a bit more yoghurt)

OP posts:

Hi yes I did the warm up too. Quite enjoying it all really, if only I could stop worrying about eating too much Grin

Today I have had

Greek yog for breakfast
Individual frittata with mushrooms for lunch
Chicken covered in Parmesan served with homemade veggie spring rolls ( can 't remember who posted recipe but they are gorgeous!) for dinner.

I am drinking lots of water but not more than 2 litres, it must be enough as I'm at the loo all day. People in my office keep asking me if I'm ok.....one asked if I had taken up a drug habit and was absenting myself to top up.

projectbabyweight · 21/01/2014 11:44

Morning people! Hope everyone's doing ok.

That's funny about the drug habit Durham! I expect your bladder will adapt soon Smile

I was good and only snacked on yoghurt last night. This morning MIL brought some camembert so I had that + chorizo for breakfast, gorgeous.

Am drinking fizzy water with orange essence, it feels like a treat, highly recommended.

Fizzy water with orange essence sounds lovely, I must buy some of the essence as it's come up a few times on the threads.

I skipped breakfast, apart from a strong black coffee, as I couldn't face anything.

Made up for it at lunch time when I had last nights chicken covered in Parmesan cheese with a salad and some homemade coleslaw.

My dd2 also cooked a whole pack of sausages because she wanted a couple for breakfast. Didn't occur to her to just cook 2! So I feel justified in blaming her for me eating a cold sausage right out of the fridge.

projectbabyweight · 21/01/2014 19:13

Nothing wrong with a cold sausage!

I had more chorizo and camembert for lunch (a match made in heaven)
LC sausages, salad and mayo for tea, then a bit of yoghurt
planning to snack on olives this evening

My ketostix have arrived so I'll do a test later, though doubt I'm in ketosis yet. I think they'll be really motivating.

Not in ketosis yet Sad Anyone know how long it's meant to take?

Today I've had:
4 x coffee and cream
chorizo and cream cheese
ham salad with mayo
chicken salad with mayo
yoghurt with cream and vanilla essence
snack - celery and cream cheese

I'm having quite a lot of dairy, so if Monday is disappointing, I'll consider "ubercamp" eeek!

I'm sure I read on here that you don't have to be in Ketosis for this WOE to work. I have no idea if I am but I have lost a few pounds. If I got those sticks it would just be something else for me to become obsessed about.
Apparently drinking litres of water can 'dilute' the results of the sticks too.

I don't think I'm in ketosis but I'm losing. 1 stone 3lb to go so hopefully I'll be eligible for your club soon. Wink

Making a BIG effort today!

I ate some homemade chocolate mousse, I told myself I wouldn't but made four pots. There are four of us in the house so obviously my plan all along was to eat one, even if I didn't admit it to myself.

God it was lovely though, I was hoping I would find it too sweet after not having anything sweet for ages but no it was just perfect.

Back on the wagon today.

Good luck everyone!! Grin

Oooh that sounds delicious Durham, but naughty you!

I do think LC is hard to stick to, not because it's not satisfying but because there's so much temptation around. I've been on and off a diet similar to bootcamp light since Jan 2005, for medical reasons (the SCD for bowel disease). Although I got better and felt amazing, the willpower involved was so hard. Everyone around me was having lovely food and I couldn't Sad

I think that's why I've cheated on this bootcamp, because I've fallen back into the "it's not fair" frame of mind. I must remember it's only for 10 weeks.

Today: 2 x coffee, 2 eggs fried in butter, ham & cambozola.

Evenings are tough, so I've bought 7 packets of pork scratchings for the week Smile

Today has been a good day for me:

Breakfast left over pork, cold from fridge
Lunch two small cheesy frittatas and salad
Dinner eggs, sausages, grilled tomato, mushroom

Lots of water and only one black coffee.

Report
projectbabyweight · 29/01/2014 11:17

Aargh, I've had a tummy bug! I'll never eat cambozola again, the thought of it is making me nauseous! That could be good news for my hips actually Grin

Sadly I "needed" a bit of carby crap to settle my stomach, and a few comforting hot ribenas.

Back on the wagon, again, today:
2 x coffee and cream
chorizo and cream cheese
(plus lots of water of course)

Hope you recover quickly but while you are ill it makes medical sense (she says hopefully) for you to eat carbs!! I prescibe two slices of toeast.

Oooh do you remember hot buttery toast??

Here's a bunch of Thanks to make you feel better!

Report
projectbabyweight · 29/01/2014 20:27

Thanks Durham, I feel fine now. Weirdly, though I used to love buttery toast, I'm not tempted by bread because I can clearly remember the sluggish feeling. My temptation of choice is chocolate Grin

I had pork scratchings, celery and cream cheese for lunch, then salmon, salad & mayo for tea, and yoghurt with a bit of cream.

Incidentally I went to university in Durham from 94-97, but honestly, I wasn't a "rah" as we called them. Seems like such a funny word now!

I moved to London in 89 and don't move back until 2007. It was nice being away but even better coming back Grin

I am also 10 stone 12 lbs and trying to get down to 10 stone. I lost a bit before xmas but have been doing bootcamp for ten days now and overall I have put on one pound! Been very strict, no lapses.

I am wondering if it is the too much dairy thing, although that didn't impact on me before. I was eating quite a lot of yogurt. I am trying uber bootcamp for three days now to see if that kick starts things. It is rather frustrating!

Report
projectbabyweight · 30/01/2014 19:57

Welcome janmoomoo! I've also gained overall since i started, though I have cheated a bit Blush Been trying to lose this last stone for yonks and it's very stubborn.

Are you already a decent BMI? I think the body must try to hold onto weight much harder when we're near it's optimum point.

Dairy could be a problem, but also overall intake. I'm reading the Briffa book at the mo and he recommends not getting hungry/counting cals, but more because you'll make bad choices when you're hungry, rather than you'll still lose weight no matter how much you eat. Also, we're not going to use up body fat if there's enough fat coming in every day to supply all the energy we need.

That's why I think those of us who are close to goal may need to keep an eye on portion sizes. Boo!

Thanks project BMI is 26.5 so not too bad but could be lower. I lost 9 lbs in a month on bootcamp last year, but this year it just won't budge. I am at the end of week 2 and on day 3 of uber bootcamp (no dairy, 20g carbs per day) and still no sign of any loss (even after taking off my slippers and glasses in desperation!)

My appetite has definitely reduced. I must be living off the fat I am eating rather than my own fat supplies. Was considering cutting down on the fat a bit and reducing portion size. What are the rest of you "stone or less" peeps doing? It is my TOTM so maybe next week... !
