When ex has ds's (4 and 3) they spent they majority of the time playing computer games as that is what ex does most of the time.
Often this is games that are rated 15 (or even 18) I think this is completely wrong as have said this to ex. He disagrees and says they are fine.

What does everyone else think? I doubt he will back down as he sees ds1 as a source of company for the ps.

They also play sporty games on the wii fit which obviously is ok.

My boys now incorporte "kiling" into their pretend play which is from these games although they don't seem distressed.

I think children should play age appropriate games - with some leeway - so I wouldn't want my DC's playing these games - However - it's very difficult with an XP - i would talk to him again about getting some lower rated games

I wouldn't worry too much about yours DCs pretend 'killing' - all boys seem to do this though maybe at an older age ?

Don't worry popcorn, i used to play cowboy/indians, army and pretend to kill people all the time as a small child. I was looking at friends porn mags before I was 11, holed away as a teenager with nothing but my ZX Spectrum games and hid under my duvet until midnight to see if I could catch a glimpse of a pair of boobs on OTT. Somehow I've managed to turn into a normal person and be a "respectable" dad.

As long as their life is balanced overall then i'm sure they'll be fine.

All those things sound like like normal boy stuff niceguy2 BUT I agree with OP it's not appropriate for young boys to be playing games with a 15/18 certificate.

DS (4) loved the PS2 but I have age appropriate games for it and he is only allowed to play those.

Perhaps provide a couple of games for your DS's to take along and play at Dads? You could take them shopping for them as a treat, then they'd be keen to play. Just a thought.

Oh yes, my DS (4) enjoys games that involves 'killing' bad guys. I wouldn't be too concerned about that!

Sorry I've just told everyone that DS is 4 twice. D'oh. More coffee needed today methinks.

And by games I don't mean PS2 ones...just normal running round stuff. Just realised that wasn't clear.

Thanks for the reassurance. Ex possesses many games - probably every one that has ever been released- so finding age appropriate ones shouldn't be difficult!

I supposed if they had an plder brother they would be exposed to all sorts of things but I will gently suggest avoiding ones that are clearly not suitable.
