Lone parents

Sometimes being a lone parent is really hard.

I suppose I'm feeling sorry for myself (doesn't happen often). DD has got flu, I've got a bug, this is the first time in a few days I've been able to get on pc. It was my birthday a couple of days ago, I've had to cancel "going out" plans because dd is ill & now I'm ill. I've got hardly any food in, ds finishes school today, we were going to put the Christmas tree up, but I don't have the energy for it....woe is me!

Can you not just close the curtains, grab your quilt and spend the day on the sofa with DD watching dvds?

Oh gosh how horrid, I completely understand - started my own misery thread last night! except I moaned much more than you

it is truly horrible isn't it?

do you have anyone at all who might help you out with a little shopping or something? I was lucky to have help from my mum for a few days before she got it too, so we're all a bit stuffed now!

i hope you are better for Christmas x

We've spent the last few days watching dvd's & sleeping, I'm hoping I feel up to shopping tomorrow. I might have a shower later to perk myself up. all my family are recovering from the vomitting bug, so can't really ask anyone. I've left a list out for the milkman...bread, eggs & juice, hopefully he'll have spares on board.

I just want to say that all you lone parents are more than entitled to a moan now and then. My two children have both been ill at the same time and I've had an awful cold. Even with my DP getting underfoot helping it's been a struggle. I really don't know how you manage it and have all the respect in the world for you. Don't know if this has made you feel better but I think you deserve a medal. xxx

Siriusmewandtinseltoo, Thanks for that! It's not easy at the best of times but even worse when you feel rough.
