I'd just like to meet one who didn't keep bitching about me online. Seems to be the done thing these days.

You are right...we can slag off our exes to our hearts content on here unbeknown to them almost.

ex's do seem to excel at slagging off - must be a woman thing - and i should know, have had enough scorn for a lifetime.

I feel the same. I get talking to someone and it goes alright for so long and then all of a sudden they break contact and I never hear from them again. It's so off-putting.

I have, yet again, given up on online dating, it doesn't work for me.

Seeing as people keep telling me that you never know what is just aropund the corner, I am now working on the assumption that one day I will just walk smack bang right into a lovely new bloke

I think that this time of year is not good for online stuff.

Or perhaps I am projecting my feelings about this time of year onto it.

Some of my 'regulars' (who I talk to) have gone a bit quiet although one has resurfaced today. May meet him next week.

But I feel quite weary of it all. Last night logged onto MSN two people said hi but I was so tired and weary I just logged off again. Don't feel very sparkling atm!

One of them sent me an email today sort of complaining how hard I was to get to talk to. So I mailed him back saying I had had a cold, was tired, busy at work and had done nothing yet for Xmas!!!

And also felt like saying I am working out how to afford it and also get through January!!

He probably thought that I sounded a whingy old bag LOL

I am also very fed up of my own non availability in the sense that I could only go out on a date every other saturday at other times would have to get babysitter which is too xpensive at the moment.

Can do a lunch I suppose.

This weather just makes me want to hibernate.

I will resurface in the New Year as a happier person.

Sorry for whinge

feeling a bit more positive today - might be meeting a long term contact for lunch on monday.

And the guy I whinged said he 'would wait for me to get in touch'!! LOL

Hmm. Well I've been waiting ages and ages, feeling like that. And suddenly I have had several people interested at once. I reckon it's in the stars.

Someone who came to fix the house

Someone else who came to fix stuff

And finally....an old flame who was always just a friend but I've fallen in love with him over the past 3 years, and he;s been with someone else, and I think finally he might be available again soon...trying to not get hopes up but the other day he was very, kind of promising.

You do never know - but I'd stay well clear of online dating. It's hard enough and dodgy enough when you've known the person for years, let alone a complete stranger.

How I wish my family would sort out an arranged marriage for me...they have better judgment than I do!!

wcl, do you or dc know any neighbours well enough for them to babysit for free? i started talking to some more neighbours (i recognised her accent!) and more importantly, dd likes and trusts her too adn she is worth her weight in gold!

Report
wintercitylover · 12/12/2008 11:07

Not the neighbours but one ds2's friends mum would babysit on odd nights for free. I then have her DS sleepover.

My neighbours are really lovely - we lend each other onions, cooking ingredients etc but not that close.

maybe invite one or two round for xmas drinks small party?

Report
wintercitylover · 12/12/2008 12:47

hmmm we had a house party in the summer and I did invite them but it's not really like that here, - people are friendly enough but tend not to be over over friendly with neighbours, we have some degree of anonmymity which I actually quite like tbh, they all work with the exception of one who has a toddler.

I am quite happy with that really. I do have someone to babysit but she is DS2 childminder and of course I have to pay her.

I wouldn't feel that comfortable expecting a neighbour to babysit for free unless I could reciprocate in some way. I do have that type of arrangement with other mums for daytime things.

maybe you could do that? reciprocate i meanx

Report
wintercitylover · 14/12/2008 17:41

Thanks yes I do understand the meaning of reciprocation.

I know I sound like I am being obstructive but on thinking about it I don't want to actually get that pally with a neighbour. It is just not like that here, tbh I would not like it if it were.

We are friendly but not in each others pockets.

I would much rather ask my friends.

I expect it sounds like I am very unfriendly but that's not the case. Just like to keep a slight distance from my neighbours.
