Hi hoping someone will be able to help me with this before i go loopy.

I will be splitting from my partner in the next few months and am trying to find out how mcuh money i will have to live on.

I don't currently work and so would be on benefits.

I have 3 kids and i want to know if anyone knows how mcuh i would get a week and wether it is including child benefit or if that remains seperate.

I have looked at a few sites but they don't make it clear if child benefit is included in the figure shown or not.

Thanks

hi how much.
its confusing i know having been there myself .
a useful site i found was www.entitledto.com it gave me good estimates on what i would get.

i get income support, maintenance, ctc and chb.also remember any maintenance is taken out of any income support you get.also may get help with housing benefit and council tax.

good luck

According to a site i've just been on, i would get 35 pounds CTC a week for each child and then 54.55 income support a week for me.

If the child benefit is included in that then that means the CTC is really only 20 a week for 1 and 24 for the others, that can't be right can it.

It workes out that i would be getting 104 pounds a week CT and 54 IS , total 158 and then no CB, dpes that sound right ????? With CB it would be 193, which does sound alot i admit, but there is no way 158 a week is gonna work. I have a loan of 140 pounds a month to pay.

well when me and dh were on income support with one dd, (the days b4 CTC) we only had around 130 a week to live on. so that does sound like it may be right. i dunno.

Yeah but if you had 130 with one child, 158 for 3 doesn't sound like much.

its more about how happy you'll be being single than the money tbh. you just learn to live on what u have, and u may be able to reduce your loan payment as well.

you do get both beep, but child benefit is considered an income with some benefits. its used ti be deducted from income support before CTC was introduced.

income support doesn't include anything for the children anymore. so you just get your IS (about £54) then child tax credits for the kids, plus child benefit which has gone up by a whole 50p a week recently!

It isn't a huge amount but it is enough, you'll get used to it.

I hve two children and was getting £128 a week in income suport. I think with a third it would be another £30 on income support. Child benefit is paid monthly on top of that, and of course I dont have to pay rent or council tax.
I find I manage quite well, and have plenty of nice things. I did quit smoking though.
