Term time vs not!

Advice needed.
Single parent to two kids, 13 and 10.
Currently work term time in a school. Crazy stress levels and no work life balance. Considering applying for full time role not in a school with much less stress/ better work life balance but lose holidays. Currently my kids live for the holidays. Not sure if sacrificing them will be detrimental to them or if the counter balance of less stressful term time would cancel it out?!

What will your kids do when they are on holiday and you are at work?

Are you a teacher? You would have to be sure that the new role was genuinely less stressful otherwise you would be sacrificing the holidays for nothing.
If you work in the private sector they do want their pound of flesh and you find yourself living for the holidays anyway but then it's five weeks rather than 13.

What is making the term time so stressful for you? Is it the job itself? The workload? What do you want to change?

Term time only every time, I'd never give that up.

Term time, no brainer. I worked term time for a University and those jobs are like hens teeth nowadays. They eventually did away with the term time contracts but fortunately my kids were around 13/15 so it wasn't too much of a loss although personally I REALLY miss the long breaks. You'll be surprised at how little the normal holiday entitlements spread out and depending on where you work you might not be able to take it when you want/need it.

How long have you done your role OP and how long have you been stressed?

Covering school holidays is a challenge I’m in the process of job applying but I’m well aware that it will not mean I have to use a play scheme for all the school holidays where as I don’t necessarily have to currently.

I used to be a teacher and left nearly 3 years ago. Do I miss the holidays? Yes of course but not enough to make me go back to teaching! My children see more of me now I work a normal job and they also have a happy mum (most of the time!) who isn't stressed out to the max. I am lucky that I get 6 weeks leave in my current role + bank hols. I do a mixture (normally without covid) of grandparents, friends, holiday clubs and of course they go to their dad's for some of the holidays although it's not shared equally.

Try a different school?
I teach part time and do a pastoral care role part time, not great money but I love going to work AND I get the holidays.

Thanks all.
I'm a teacher and special needs coordinator. Looking at a role in local authority. So mixed. Better quality of life in normal life vs holidays. Have need to earn at certain level for mortgage etc so can't go for a lower stress level job in school unfortunately

This is what I'm hoping to achieve!
