Tax credits query

Hi all,

Up until my recent tax credit review, I was receiving £7.50 a week CTC. I've had a couple of small payments made into my account last week and received my paperwork today.

My payments are going up to £25 a week. Now, it says my payments are based on the fact my DC is over 16, but they actually won't be until much later in the year. Is this standard if the birthday falls at any point in this tax year?

I wasn't expecting to be eligible for anything at all this year, based on last years salary.

I need to call them at some point as my salary will be slightly over the threshold they mention for 2020/2021, but cant get through and don't expect to anytime soon!

Thanks.

Working Tax Credits went up because of Corona. You'll have to check the exact figures.

You continue to get Child Benefit etc if your 16 year old is staying in education and studying. I got CB for DS until he finished A-levels.

Thanks @PickUpAPickUpAPenguin.

It wasn't working tax. I don't get that, only child tax. Has it also increased due to CV? I read it as due to DC turning 16 later in the year.

I know about CB, sorry. I meant wasn't expecting anything in terms of tax credits.
