What will birth certificate actually say?

I have a little boy who is only a few weeks old and I am going to register his birth. His father is not involved in any way (hasn't been in contact since I was 10 weeks pregnant when he became violent and threatening and I called the police on him and left - so he doesn’t even know he has a son). There is therefore no doubt that my ex won’t and shouldn’t be on the birth certificate.
What I am wondering is whether this means they will simply leave the father part blank or whether they will write ‘unknown’ there. It upsets me somewhat to think it will be the latter as it just seems such a sad thing to have written on my son’s birth certificate (especially as it is very untrue as his father and I were in a relationship and as my son grows up I will be ensuring he knows age appropriate details about his father).
So can anyone tell me what will actually be written on the birth certificate?

It will have a line in the spaces for father's name, surname, occupation and place of birth.

It's left blank. If in the future he reenters your lives he can apply to the court to have it added.
