Backdating child maintanance

My ex used to pay the bare minimum.towards our child when he was working. He then decided he didn't want to work because he didn't have to (bank of mum was enough). So I have not been getting any money for a number of months. He told me few days ago he will possibly be starting a job next month.

The way he used to pay was firecy into my bank. Not through an agency and we would calculate the amout by using the online child maintanance calculator.

My question is if he goes back to work does he have to pay me money he owees me for the months he wasn't working or will he have to start paying as usual?

He only pays from the month he starts work, and the amount will be calculated based on his new income.

If he was claiming benefits he should have been giving you a small amount from that but it doesn’t get backdated.

He wasn't claiming benefits because he has quit his job so was not entitled to any. His mum is happy to pay for his outgoings. He is in his mid 30's...

Unfortunately he doesn't owe you for the time he wasn't being payed, as crappy that it is that he would shirk his responsibilities he would qualify for the nil rate of child maintenance. When/if he starts earning again is when he has to pay.

If he claimed benefits you would be entitled to 7 pounds a week. Sadly you get nothing as he is not claiming.

If you go through the cms. It starts from the day you put the claim in.
