Lone parents

I am so lonely

Just wanted a rant. Am seeing somebody in the quite early stages so not completely on my own but he has nothing to do with DD. DD's dad is NC.

Got back from a trip this morning and tonight I am just feeling so lonely! Disappointed with myself for being a single mum at 25. Fed up with doing everything at home by myself. Upset that I spend most evenings after 8pm alone in front of the TV. Just feeling very isolated really. I have plenty of friends close family, guy I'm dating is lovely but I can't help but think I have let down my daughter by being a single mum.

Of course you haven't let her down! You are the very person in her life who absolutely hasn't. There should be no shame in being a single parent.

Do you know the saying "comparison is the thief of joy?" Try not to compare your life and what you have with an imagined perfect scenario, you can never win that comparison!

But I can understand when you get in from a trip and it's just you, that it isn't what you want, so a rant is totally understandable Thanks

Didn't want to read and run op

You haven't let your daughter down. It must be really tough though. Ive felt so lonely too and it's miserable.

Is there anything you can do other than just watch telly? Teach yourself something? Cook/bake? Learn something? What about an open university course? Online book club? Online art class? Or learn to draw/do a craft with the help of YouTube videos? Exercise? Embrace early nights and the bed to yourself!

Try something new, and reach out to people. Invite people over, and phone people for long talks.

Hope you feel better soon

Thanks for replying! It's as if as soon as I get into bed it just hits me that I'm all by myself! I think I will try your suggestions and try and get a hobby, at the mo my life just revolves around my DD and work! Not healthy for anybody. I'm lucky that my DM is available most of the time for babysitting so there's no excuse really not to pick up a hobby. Thanks for your lovely words and suggestions!

Definitely use the babysitting and take up some hobbies! Maybe try a weekly one (exercise class/choir/evening course) and something which is less often like book club (find a good one that drinks wine!)

Filling your life with good enjoyable stuff will help 😊
