I'm dreading Mother's Day. Feel so awkward and sad, out and about feeling like I'm surrounded by happy families. What do you do?

Just enjoy the day with my kids like it's any other day.

My dad takes us out for a meal with my mum and brother. I don't really think about the day too much really but I do enjoy the meal and my mum gets me a card too which she'll sneakily get my daughter to sign when I'm not looking :)

Mother's Day is complete bollocks. It's a fake commercial money making nonsense day. Same as Valentines Day.

I wouldn't worry about it. A lot of families completely ignore it.

Book a restaurant for me and the dc's and sit there in the midst of the two parent families.

FWIW Mothering Sunday is a religious festival. Fourth Sunday in lent I think.

You could have a little tea party and celebrate your relationship that way. Loads of fun for the little ones, you can have games or help them to make something and everyone gets cake.
You don't need someone else to do this for you, you can make this about you and your kids and not need a man to validate it.

Can you just plan a special day for the 2 of you? Have your favourite meal and snuggle up with a film and some treats, your toddler is the reason you are a mother just enjoy being together, don't worry about anyone else, have a lovely Mother's Day.

I 'help' DD make or buy me something beforehand and am then very surprised when I open it on the day Wink I also make sure we go somewhere slightly treaty, like out for a cake in a 'naice' café. I think it's really important to help them celebrate us.

I used to take dd to a local pottery painting place, she'd choose a present for me and paint it, then we'd have tea and cake - both felt special that way!

Oh yes - get your toddler decorating biscuits for you together for your special afternoon tea party - and if they have a special cuddly that they are 'mum' too invite them too!
