Cms question regarding over payment

ExH is supposed to pay £7 cm a week. If he pays say £20 one week does that mean he doesn't have to pay the next week?

We're currently on direct pay and he goes to the bank to deposit the money as he can't set up a standing order. The whole reason I went to the CMS was to try to get some consistency.

Just to add to this. I called the CMS this morning who confirmed that the £7 is the minimum he has to pay each week. (ie a payment has to be made each week).

Bumping for you as I've been working during this too. I've just set up a case and first payment is due in a few days times. Ex has paid early but won't tell me if this is the money he owes me from not keeping to our voluntary agreement (which the CMS can't enforce) or his first payment. He's just using it as another opportunity for financial abuse.

Ah, sorry, misread your last post. Ex is supposed to pay me monthly so will have to call to confirm. Glad you got an answer.

Call them, I found them to be very helpful. Has your ex setting up a standing order? If he is able to he should do it and name it as something along the lines of "child maintenance" so it shows on both your bank statements.

My ex hasn't done this and it's to his detriment as he has no record of it being paid so if he was asked to prooves payment he couldn't.

He needs to clarify the payment for his own security.
