With other single parents?

Short of standing with a sign around my neck in the playground, i am not sure what do! The weekdays are OK as there is a structure and lots of people are happy to meet up but I find weekends really tough. I find that I try and organise stuff but people with partners/ husbands don't want to do stuff as they want family time or they want to meet up with other couples with kids. Also it's harder to go out and do stuff when it's just me trying to control a 5 yr old and a 1 yr old. I'm not blaming them at all, I just want to find some other single parents to hang out with but I don't feel I know where to start.

I've started doing taekwondko with my dc and one of the classes is on a Sunday.

So Saturday I always take them out either NT place, bike ride, or science place we have a annual pass for, ect and Sunday is training.

I used to have a large circle of friends when my dc were younger and we were all single parents so it was great. Then the group had a massive fall out and I haven't made proper friends since.

If you're specifically looking for other single parents, would you consider joining a Gingerbread group?

I've tried re gingerbread, emailed a couple of groups but not had any replies. I think sometimes they get set up but aren't active. I could try setting up my own I guess

Have you tried contacting SureStart? My local one used to run a monthly group for lone parents but they are also good for meeting other parents more generally.
