Non-molestation order advice please!

Ive had enough of my abusive ex husband. I gave him another chance to have contact with our young children tonight and he just turned in to his usual abusive, threatening, aggressive self. We've just had a week of no contact with him (his choice) and it was so much better, me and the kids were so much calmer and happier. He's threatening me with all sorts. Is it a non-mol that I need? I read the info on the gov.uk page but I need it simplified! Can I do it without a lawyer? And how soon?

And those that have had one was it worth it?

Call Womens Aid and the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV) for advice. If he is harassing you, report him to the police.
If you are not working, the NCDV will apply for a non molestation order for you for free. If you are working, you will have to pay your own legal costs. However, if he is committing criminal offences, police can give him bail conditions during investigation and post charge and request a restraining order upon conviction.

Me again (!) A non-molestation order is an excellent tool. It has conditions attached designed to protect you (eg not to contact you, not to go to your address etc). It also generally carries a power of arrest if conditions are breached and offenders face prosecution.

Thank you. I'd heard of and rang womens aid but hadn't heard of NCDV and they sound like exactly the people I need. Its so hard to know whether its the right thing or not but I can't live like this any more :(
