After a year of me supporting DD (11) and ExH to rebuild their relationship including driving somewhere for 1.5 hours then hanging about for 6 hours then driving back on multiple occasions. I pacified DD when he nearly fucked it up so many times, arriving with GF who was so drunk she could not stand, returning DD late so she was late for her best friend's party to name a few.
In this time I was never late for contact despite this involving co- ordinating motorway journeys and ferry times. ExH had no driving licence and lives on an island.
He now has his driving licence back and contact has reached every other weekend. He has DD this weekend including today and has taken her to the Island great it's a lovely place beach 5 mins from his home etc.
But I have just had a call to say he forgot to book a return ferry and now he has phone unsurprisingly on a bank holiday weekend they are full. He can't have DD back till 11pm tonight. I can not go and collect her from a foot ferry as I am on call and providing an emergency service so can't travel.
The phone call was all poor little him how was he supposed to know he might need to book in advance to get a decent time ferry on a bank holiday.
Ahhhhhh.

How annoying!! This is the kind of thing I avoid by spoon feeding ex everything he will need to think about. But this will hopefully be a real inconvenience for him and maybe (just maybe!) teach him to plan better.

I never let my ex fuck up and I've made a real rod for my back.

So he gets passenger ferry with her and returns her safely home by using a,taxi, bus or train etc. He could also see if someone you both trust could help him by picking his daughter up from the passenger ferry.

He needs to feel the consequences of his lack of planning but your daughter's needs and safety must be the first priority.

Penfold as much as I would like to insist upon that he presented me with this is what's happening. Yes I could insist on him doing something different, but it would play into his hands as presenting me as unreasonable etc. I have learnt the very hard way to accept these kinds of situations as he is excellent at manipulating situations to portray himself as the victim.
All I can do is rant. DD will be tired yes, but as she is heavily involved in theatre productions going to bed late and getting up and going to school is not unknown to herGrin.
