Am I the only one who's had a rubbish day? Worst m.day since becoming a mum. Spent time planning a nice day with my children within certain financial & physical limitations. My gifts frm my children (supplied my mother) were gimmicks to do with me doing chores, nothing to spoil me iykwim. My children wouldn't get ready to go out as mucking about & we missed our timed ticketed event. So instead I've spent the entire day doing chores to keep busy & avoid my children as I'm upset & bit weepy which I didn't want them to see but the alternative has been I've hardly see them all day. I know it's not their fault but having to battle with them today of all days just to get out the house has made me feel really Sad I could've stayed in my pjs all day & not done my hair / make up, and it wouldn't have mattered. Tragic.

I have had a rubbish day too.Been ill with a child who has been testing to say the least.Burnt my ha do on oven doing her tea and even though her dad gets a card and pressie with her every year this year he got a crappie pressie (which of course I said a huge thank you to her for) and she made me a card that it was clear was a two second scribble job which she put her dad's girlfriends dds name in!!!(again on display).x

foxy you sound like you handled your day better than I did. Now the children are in bed I feel super rubbish for letting things get to me & basically ruining a whole day rather than just having a crap morning but pulling it back on track for the afternoon. Having said that, the kids went wild getting many many toys out in my chore-fuelled absence upstairs, I'm not sure they even missed me until they got hungry. But they noticed I was upset at bedtime which makes me more upset! Next yr I think we'll do our special thing on the Saturday so if it goes awry there's still a day left to have a plan B.

If my fabulous childminder had not made a huge effort with DS to make me a lovely present, I would have got nothing. My mum doesn't seem to register that as he's 4, DS doesn't have the EQ or means to buy/make me a card or present. She knows his dad won't bother and it wouldn't cross my DP's mind that he could help DS with it - they never spend any time together, so would be almost impossible. So I am completely bowled over by my amazing and thoughtful childminder. She has made mothers' day really special for the last 3 years. I am so lucky to have her! And DS, obviously!

I have to say am thankful for her brownie leaders for that reason. Her dad got a crap present and she scribbled a handmade card at his and threw together a card at school but at brownies she made me a beautiful flower arrangement. She wanted to make me breakfast too.I was going to supervise this but due to being ill she was unable to do it.Bless her.x

I had a cuppa in bed which then got kicked off the tray - cue leaping out of bed.

And the 6yr old (not my dc but have had full care for 5+ years) told me he didn't have to behave on Mothers Day because "you're not my mother". It was said innocently enough, but it still hurt.

Ds doesn't have many overnights at his dad's but yet again its fallen on mothers day, so I haven't seen him at all. Not what I imagined when I had a child. We've had a sickness bug so have loads of housework to catch up on so tried to keep busy.

Belated happy mother's day mums. To all those who didn't have a great one. Maybe pretend it's tomorrow and try to do something small for yourself tomorrow to treat yourselves.
Usually I get quite upset on mother's and father's day due to being lone parent and not having decent relationship with mum. But this year (inspite of son mentioning it constantly) I managed to ignore mother's day and all the pressure that comes with it.
