....and people over Facebook have said have a nice day and hope you get spoilt and do something nice. .....you don't really get spoilt when you are a single parent though do you? I ate cake for breakfast Grin.

I have to take both the cat and dog to the vets, try and get all the mould off the conservatory that has pretty much appeared overnight, use the carpet cleaner to get the dog sick out the carpet from the dog vomiting his way through the house and do all the other usual stuff.

Just moaning really at least I haven't got to help out at the school today which is a bonus.

Happy Birthday Thanks

Can you not meet a friend for half hour and have a coffee or go have one by yourself and enjoy the peace and quite?

I know what you mean, it's different when you are on your own. All the responsibilities are yours and even when it's your birthday it's still all down to you.

Try and enjoy the day, I think it's doing little things that you get enjoyment from such as nice/favourite food, cake, coffee/hot drinks that feel like a treat. Also I always like to have nice warm bubble bath to relax, which is like a treat as usually it's in and out the shower.

My birthday too. Woke up feeling really poorly but still had to do the school run.

Am now flopped on sofa with Netflix. Not a single card in the post but had the loveliest ones from the DC.

What will you do this evening to celebrate? Sit on your own when the DC are in bed? Me too!

Happy birthday!

Happy birthday Pickled. Enjoy Netflix Grin and hope you feel better soon.

Yes I will be sat on sofa while DS is in bed, my mum did get me a present from him which was nice. I have had a few cards and my friends bought me chocs and wine yesterday when they came over for dinner.

I do have a lovely lodger though so I won't be totally alone this evening but I have to get up for work at 05:30 in the morning so won't be drinking any vino.

It was my 5year old DS birthday 4 days ago and he had a big party last Sunday with entertainer loads of friends etc and then also had people round on his actual birthday. He is keeps asking what I am doing for my birthday and just doesn't get that I won't be doing anything this is the conversation that went on for ages at various times yesterday

DS - wheres your birthday going to be?
Me - Its my birthday tomorrow but I am not having a party
DS - yeah but where is it going to be? whose going to be coming?
Me - its my birthday but I am not having a party.
DS yeah but where is it going to be?
Me - I've already explained its my birthday I won't be having a party?
DS - but why? you have to do something? will people be coming round?
Me - I doubt it and there is none to organise a party for me
DS - why not? its your birthday
Me - silently in my head 'because your father fucked off with someone else, decided he never wanted to see you again, I work too many hours and in shifts to have the bloody energy to think about my birthday'
What I actually said - oh i'm too old to worry about my birthday.
DS - I love you mummy.

I'm going to be dropping hints that I will require a surprise 60th to him in the hope that one day I will get a party again Grin

My DS is exactly the same!

Him: You're older now mummy because it's your birthday.
Me: Do I look older?
Him: Yes!

Dropped myself in that one!

Well I didn't do much but have a small glass of vino and watch a film in the afternoon and eat chocolate. Evening was boring and fell asleep in front of tele.

Everyone at work asked me how my day was and what did I do.... erm nothing much. I don't think people realise that when you are a single parent your birthday just isn't that exciting lol

Glad you had a lovely pub tea. I did think of doing that but ate such a huge lunch that I couldn't face eating so early!

Its the expectation on peoples faces when they think you are going to come out with some lovely story of what a wonderful birthday you had. After 12 hours at work of that dreaded question I couldn't be arsed to make it sound cheery. My reply at the end of the shift was 'I'm a single parent to a 5 year old, I did bugger all its the same old, same old day for me' I'm a miserable cow Blush

On a brighter note I bought myself a drill with my birthday money on Amazon Black friday Grin
