DD has been very emotional all day and it's breaking my heart

DD is 6 year old, just got back from a week away with her dad. We split over 3 years ago.

She was emotional when leaving me to go away and now she is back she is really emotional about not seeing her dad. It is breaking my heart, as there's nothing I can do apart from cuddle her and be there for her and try to comfort her. Sad

She said 'I wish you and daddy liked each other so we could all live together - just made me weep.

She goes to him eow and will see him on Friday. She has phoned him a couple of times but I don't think it's helping her, but at the same time I don't want that to feel that I am preventing her from contacting him. It is really hard.

All you can do is agree that of course she misses her dad and would like you to all live together, but you don't. Reinforce she can talk to dad whenever she wants (presuming she can) and she will be seeing him soon.

She's better today. Managed to get out (I wasn't well yesterday so that didn't help).
I am usually quite strong and rational, but sometimes this coparenting, dual home thing is so hard.

I feel for you paneer, my DS will be home today after spending 5 nights with his dad and I'm expecting the same. He has mentioned to both of us that he wishes we could live together Sad

It has got worse. She is still extremely emotional and is resisting going to school as well. I though some routine would help but it hasn't.

I feel completely at a loss on what to do. It's as if she has just realised that we have split and what it really means.

I really do not know what to do.

Mines like this, in the two occasions she's seen him since February she's come home ad broke her heart, big dobbin tears to the point she made me cry too, I put it down to being over tired, and worry about when she'll see him again. Lots of cuddles in my bed and plenty if chocolate. I'm dreading this weekend.

Sorry to hear moomoo, thinking of you this weekend.

Mine has got a lot better since Wednesday - no tears at all today and completely her usual self when I collected her from school.

He cancelled so no over emotional child this weekend for me. She's more emotional when she does go than when he cancels, guess she's used to him letting her down now.
