Misstiredbunny:
I've no advice for you as I feel exactly the same- I seem to go two steps forward an 4 back-
I just wanted to give you a virtual hug and we can howl at the moon together and weep!!!

I know the feeling. :( Think going to bed early is the best solution! Less time to think! :(

Poor you to feel that bad.

How about watching a good film on the box or reading a novel something to escape into? Or listening to some good music? Try to find a good hobby you can comfortably do which is quality me time even if it is just one hour a night once you are fully on your own and caught up with other chores too. Just recently I have been buying a cd down our local market for £4 and listening to the current flavour that week being Dolly Parton (sorry lol) and having a little dance even in my bedroom and singing along. That way it doesn't cost the earth and it is at least therapeutic.

HTH.

Honestly on paper GOT is not in a million years something I'd go for (e.g. I have always refused to watch Lord of the Rings...fantasy/ make believe not really my bag) but I gave it a go and quickly got hooked!! I think most people say the same. I've heard Orange is the New Black and House of
Cards are good I think they're both on netflix.

Try 'Revenge' on box set.

Once you start you wont stop!

These are old so don't laugh but there are some mini series on YouTube.

Bangkok Hilton with a young Nicole Kidman - brilliant series
Brides of Christ

Maybe they are not your scene but I loved them and they kept me going while on maternity leave

OP have you been a lone parent for long? Do you get any additional support / any time to yourself at all?

Misstiredbunny- I'm not sure there is a soloution here- but I feel very isolated too. I seem to be at work or home with ds.
Money is tight, enough, and a little room for fun, but that fun involves kid stuff like kids film at cinema, parks, play centres! I'd love to splash the cash on cocktails but I'd be lone drinking! Lol
At the moment I'd be very happy with female company to totally bitch over men, but I guess watching shite tv is still probably healthier lol!
It's dull- and I don't see it changing for a long long time- but I live in hope x

Raised dd on my own from day 1 was in a relationship for about a year when dd was 2 but it fizzled out. Dd doesnt see her dad. I get the day to myself on a monday as its my day of and dd is in school. My mum doesn't live that far away but shes got her own health issues. Dd stays overnight at my mums every 2 or 3 months.

I have been on my own for two years. To be honest its been such a relief after getting rid of a horrible emotionally abusive ex that I have not really felt the loneliness until very recently. I was stuck in a crap relationship so long that being on my own was a breath of fresh air. However, lately I have started thinking how it would be nice to have a decent partner who I actually want to spend quality time with once the kids are in bed.
I have plenty to keep myself occupied in the evening as I am studying a beauty course and have lots of assignments but once the kids are in bed I am so tired I just want to chill.

We will carry on- we have no choice, but reading these threads keeps me sane and reading the dating thread! It's all a bloody headache- I'm becoming a nun, I swear.i consisder I'm so switched on too, I done everything correctly how I was brought up and ask myself how did I get into this hole :-(

That's fab news. I'm a lone parent too, and am taking 2 yr old dd away on a caravan holiday in September. Can't wait to get away for a week.

I spend my evenings pretty much the same as you, but I'd not go back to where we were now. Ex was a money sucking parasite.
