Birthday Gifts

This seems to be never ending just now.

ExH doesn't see DD there have been a lot of issues lately some of which I posted about before. It is ExHs choice not to see DD.

His Mum has just text saying XXXX wants to know what to get for DDs birthday. I really want to respond saying "I don't see the benefit to DD of XXXX buying her gifts when he doesn't want anything to do with her. "

It's a twice yearly reminder of a man who abandoned her. He doesn't contribute financially either.

I'm not sure if I'm better to refuse the gifts or just take them and be done with it.

sounds tough and I'd be the same as you. but could u suggest something u know dd needs so actually its helpful? not that you want him to think or know that but if he is going to get something might as well be something useful smile

I woud reply as you have written, or perhaps stating he would be better spending the money on coming to see his daughter.

He stays less than 5 minutes away. I actually don't want him involved either because of what's gone on. He hasn't seen her for a long time.

It just seem relentless, if he wants to disappear from her life, that's fine but why pretend otherwise with gifts it seems like it'sa way to make him feel bbetter not about her.

I would ask for something useful like Clothes...Or maybe say a food parcel to feed your daughter...

Not much help really but it would piss me off too

Yeah that's maybe a good idea. I just can't help but think he will try and use it against me at some point if I decline and in the long run could cause more grief. But there is a massive part of me that wants to tell him to shove it.
