H came round today and took the rest of his clothes etc. While he was here me and dc went out to a local outlet shopping centre which also had a festival on today. I have taken them out loads on my own before but today was my first time as a lp. The only time I really felt like a single mum was sitting in the restaurant at lunch surrounded by families all together. My dc had a lovely day it did hurt a bit when they said they had a lovely time maybe daddy could come next time. I had to explain again that he doesn't live with us anymore.
I got home and his stuff had gone and I felt....nothing relief, calm, pleased for the extra cupboard space ;). I asked him Friday if there was anyone else he replied not yet! I pity whoever ends up with him I am on a good day today after 5 weeks of hell and starting to feel ok again x

Well done you! Those moments surrounded by families can hurt, but they fade, and who knows what your family may emerge into in a few years. Keep hold of the reasons why it had to end, for when you need strength.
Now go and watch / read whatever you like, an go to bed whenever you like, knowing you don't have to justify yourself!

LOL at the extra cupboard space. It's a bonus isn't it!

Once you find your feet you won't be phased by restaurants. Especially when you start people watching and realise some of those happy couples are actually in a bad mood with each other and everything isn't as rosy as you'd think.

I'm glad you've had a good day, 2anddone. I know what you mean about the extra storage space too! :)

I wince now and then when I see other families but I could never have been like that with exh so there's no point. I'm loving being a lp just now it's great Grin

Well done! Another hurdle passed. Dd and I have pretty much done everything on our own. I think the time when I feel most obvious is in the pub garden on a sunny day or on holiday. As both of these are favourite things and I'm a stubborn bugger we carry on though. Like meglet says if you people watch some couples look like they would rather be anywhere else but together.

Well done.
The sadness when you see families does fade and you emerge a feisty proud single parent who can't wait to tell everyone.
I'm remarried now but still do loads on my own with dc because dh works weekends so it turned out to be good practice Grin

Absolutely agree. I'm a stronger person. I can rely upon myself in a way I never could when I was married.
