Unfair?

The dc's are not allowed to have a regular hobby at the weekend as dad wont give up any of 'his' weekend to take them, which means it wouldn't be regular as they would miss out on going every other weekend - but he regularly lets them down when it's access time to fulfil HIS hobby! How can this be fair?

Am I wrong in thinking that as he doesn't allow the dc's to have a regular hobby in his time, that he too should forego his hobby when it's his time with them?!!!

Yes I agree he should forgo his hobby that's so unreasonable.

I had the same problem luckily my ex wants no contact at all. What do your children think? How old are they? How often does he let them down?

I would document every time he lets them down, the hobbies they want to do and put an order into the court.

How far away does you ex live? I know that if my twat of an ex ever decided he wanted contact there is no way I am going to let my DS weekend activities be stopped again.

There are an awful lot of selfish men out there who fail to put themselves out for their children.

Totally unfair! My ex is the same though, if the boys have a party to go to when they are with him, he makes then choose between him and the party!

Same here and deeply unfair. Youngest has to regularly miss a sporting activity because he won't take her, and they regularly miss birthday parties as well. Pathetic.

I've got it put in the contact agreement that either he takes him to activity / party or I take him and contact is re-arranged.

Course he won't sign the agreement but there you go.

Think they've given up asking! They were always invited to parties initially but now hardly any invites because I've had to keep saying they can't go as they usually fall on his weekend.

He has agreed to hobbies in the past. My thoughts were he would take/pick up/pay for when his weekend and me on my weekend but he kept making excuses and ended up with me doing all the running round/paying for and he ended up seeing less of them but giving me lots of grief!! To stop the hassle we gave up the clubs. He's being more and more awkward now though.

I just can't believe his cheek, the amount of times he lies about having to work and can't have the dc's, but I have proof he is just being selfish and chooses to do his hobby instead!

How is any of this in the best interests of the children?! Laws need to change and be stricter in making these men take responsibility and stop being so selfish!

but if he doesnt take them half the time you may as well book the hobbysay yes to the invites - coz you will make them half the time plus ? ie they will only miss 25% ??
