name changer obviously..please help me feel a little less guilty...?

But Please be honest.

I'm feeling crap.

I overslept this morning, badly, and missed the start of school. Then I was paralysed with fear and guilt and didn't know what the heck to do. So at half ten i rang in and said he'd been very restless and awake all night and i had decided to keep him home today as he's so tired (he's five).

But the fact is, I had one glass of wine too many last night and didn't hear the alarm clock!

I am a crap mother I know sad. But does this happen sometimes to anyone else? How often? Once in a blue moon? twice a year? once a month? Never?? I haven't enjoyed the day with him as I know he should have been at school. sad blush

<<waits for flaming>>

Mine not at school and wakes me every morning so I don't know (I was quite often late for work pre-dc for that kind of reason though!). Please god don't put this in AIBU!

Put it down to experience, get a second alarm clock and try and make sure it is a blue moon thing for you. He's bound to miss days when he is actually ill so you don't want to be adding to it.

I would have sent him in at 10.30 so he didn't miss too much. Can't think of a good excuse though, maybe he was upset over dead pet but had perked up??

Don't beat yourself up over it, that serves no purpose. Just try and learn from it.

I think put down to experience and make sure doesn't happen again.

Did your son not come in and wake you up?! I have overslept before and normally my dd will trot in about 8am ish and start moaning that I need to get up, she needs a wee, she is hungry - you get my point grin

Do you normally drink much in the week? Maybe just save the wine for friday and saturday nights. The fact you feel guilty is a good thing, be much more worrying of you didn't care!!

op you are not the first and wont be the last

just put it down to a bad experience

your not a bad mom, your racked with guilt otherwise you wouldnt be posting so that tells me you are aware you had a blip

please dont post in the high traffic sections, they will give you a hard time and you dont need that

chalk it down to experience and tomorrow is another day

it happen to me. If it happenes again do not blame it (so to speak) on the child. I said dc did not sleep well was a bit sick and was told to keep him home .... the second time we were late I just said totalyy my fault I was unwel and did not here the bell... much better than risking making dc loose a day at school
