If you don't work, how do you answer the "what's your occupation" question?

DD is only 2.9 and as I wasn't working when I split up with her dad I started claiming IS. I plan to go back to work when she starts school.

I tend to refer to myself as a SAHM but technically I suppose I'm unemployed aren't I? And does it affect things like my car insurance if I use the wrong term? Does it even matter?! I just hate the idea of calling myself unemployed when I work bloody hard!

I asked my lawyer this, homemaker is acceptable.

My thinking is IS is not job seekers... and while the children are young you are a sahm, just because the other parent is no longer there doesn't change that?

Exactly, that was my thinking with the difference between JSA and IS. IS is there to support us raise our young DCs isn't it? Which is what we'd be doing if we had a partner.
