My xOH texted just now to see if it's still ok to nip over to see the DC tomorrow before he goes out with friends and I was thinking' Monday night that's a bit strange..' then I twigged..its NYE!!! I forgot so I will be at home and on my own with the 2DC for the first time on NYE (and I can't even have a proper drink Shock). Burst in to tears when I realised. What a dingbat!

Do appreciate though (before I start playing my mini violin to myself) there are plenty of you out there in the same boat, but for some reason, this scares me more than being on my own at Christmas..which was actually ok in the end.

Any tips for getting through it?!?

I'm in same boat and to top it off I have flu.
Get any early night, don't stay up for it. It's no big deal. Watch a film and get yourself to bed.

Thanks Flojo. Ugg - evil old flu Sad hope you feel much better soon

Sounds like a plan - film & bed. DD gets into my bed about 3am anyway, so probably a good idea to get some sleep!!

I love NYE on my own - I have my tipple of choice, some nibbles arranged, and stick on Hootananny for a wee jig about the living room with no one to laugh at my pathetic efforts at dancing Grin. I am never happier at NY than having a bit of Jools on the TV, and my favourite alcoholic beverage to sip.

Capitaltrixie · 30/12/2012 23:36

That sounds brilliant bunchamunch Grin If I don't fall asleep during the film, then it'll be a mini bottle of vino and some dancing round the lounge! actually looking forward to it a bit now Smile you lot are great.

Capital, the bit I enjoy most is not having to put up with relatives' slobbering kisses as they wish me a happy new year! It's probably the one time I'm happy to say 'sorry, can't make your NYE get together as I've got DD that night'. And no one else I know likes Jools at NY so I get to indulge myself while getting a bit very tipsy. Just enjoy the peace and quiet, and look forward to a good year ahead. Wine

Loner on NYE too! once dd is in bed I'll.be watching my comedy DVD with a glass of vodka and coke because I'm common Grin

mama2moo · 31/12/2012 16:07

My first NYE alone with 2 dc as well.

What am I doing - Nothing! Its just a normal day/night for me!!

iwantanafternoonnap · 31/12/2012 17:30

I can't go out as I am working a 12.5 shift tomorrow daytime. Well I could go out but the chances of stopping myself from drinking are slim with my mates!

So instead I am babysitting for someone from the single parent group so they can go out. I am dropping DS off at my mums tonight so she and him don't have to get up at some daft hour in the morning like normal and heading off for an evening with my new paperwhite kindle that came today. I have uploaded a stupid amount of ebooks from the sales on amazon and have spent the last of my christmas money on it. I am actually really looking forward to it how sad is that!?!?!

It also means I will start the New Year without a hangover and as I mean to go on. Healthier, happier and more positive and ready to do the 30 day shred when I get in from work tomorrow Grin
