Saturday night - talk to another adult thread...

I can't be the only one sat in the house bored and craving adult conversation surely?

DS is 'camping' in the living room (he misses going camping since me and his dad spilt up but dad likes a drink and fully admits it wouldn't be appropriate to take him camping without me Hmm - and I don't drive) Sad

I have just finished drying out the kitchen after DS flooded it trying to fill a watering can.

I have a job interview on Thursday, it has just occurred to me I have no suitable clothes!

I feel like everyone is out having a good time or snuggled up to husbands/partners, saturday nights always bother me more for some reason.

What's everyone else up to/ got happening?

I'm at home, watching my recorded Jeremy Kyle Blush...reminding me that my DC have quite a nice life really!

What are you going to do about clothes for your interview? Leave the label in a suit and take it back when you've worn it? Or is that just me?

Report
WhoWhoWhoWho · 02/07/2011 21:26

Oh yes that kind of tv programme does remind you you're not quite bottom of the heap doesn't it! I can't watch them, I get too riled up Blush

Not sure about the clothes, may go the cheap route primark/peacocks/scope. And I may keep the labels in if I feel brazen and can hide them well during wear. I don't need a full suit, just trousers and smart shirt should do. Smile

I'm at the kitchen table on the 'puter with my friend opposite me on hers.... and my dh is pottering in garden... might retreat to the TV soon.

I'm sitting here waiting for DP to arrive but he won't be here til about 11 or so. I am a single parent, although DP and me are getting married so I hope it is OK if I join in?

Good luck on the interview - I'd go cheapy - Primark or whatever - good luck Smile

I don't even have the tv on right now Blush

DS has the tv on watching shaun the sheep, I don't get a look in, but I'm not that bothered to be honest.

Anyone is welcome on thread Smile there's only so much conversation I can have with my lovely six year old!

Ooh getting married! Have you set a date yet?

I'm sitting here drinking pink fizz due to successful interview a couple of weeks ago, dc are asleep and I'm planning my next stage of world domination! (well, surfing rightmove anyway)

Good luck Who!

Oh wow well done Mavis! Smile

I'm wibbling a bit now at the thought of an interview, and the possibility of gulp juggling work and childcare issues. I guess I will cross that bridge when it comes to it.

Thanks for the good luck wishes mavis and fmepink

Haven't set a date yet. I am thinking of running off with DP and the DC's, doing the deed and coming back fait accompli - big showy do's are not really my style.

Am cheesed off with my next door neighbours (there's a thread) and slightly uneasy about DD1 farming at the x-inlaws (also a thread in AIBU)

Think I might have a small Wine

Hey but you can juggle right?

I've been juggling the last year or so as I've been doing teacher training but now have a 3 day per week job in a gorgeous school so Life. Is. Good!

What's the job - what killer phrases do you need?

Report
WhoWhoWhoWho · 02/07/2011 22:26

I will take a nosy peek at your thread fmepink....

Your job sounds ideal Mavis Smile. The job I've applied for is a keyworker for young adults with autism, it is part time, days. My DS is autistic, and I have done several courses in autism because of this so I'm hoping his will help. My working background is childcare but I'm going to focus on the caring aspect of it.

Individual's needs, develop and improve life skills, etc etc.

I am also jittery because I had a dream that I turned up for the interview and DS's school keyworker was there too as an applicant. Shock

Oh whowhowho you sound like you would be perfect for that job Grin

Fingers and toes crossed. What are the "key" phrases you need? If they do the killer "what's your biggest weakness" question what will you say?

I'm sitting alone surrounded by boxes. Moving out of my house on Monday but can't move into the new house for 3 weeks because of the estate screwing up the dates. So I'm exhausted from packing up the house and now I'm going to be homeless with the 3 DDs.

On the plus side I'm on target to get everything packed up on time and I've just had a large glass of wine! :)

I am at home, watching Kennedys and two best mates at Take That at Wembley have been phoning and playing it down the mobile! Grin

I was supposed to go...but as i am stuck at home with 3 yr old and no help, circs meant i couldnt in the end.

Ah well. I have played eye spy all day, done tickling, made spag for ds, wiped his bum 7 times, changed his socks (dog poo), cleaned up all dog poo, hoovered, and all after going to meet my brother for the first time in 8 years.

ds wailed 'carry me carry me carry me' thus slightly spoiling the moment. He also needed two wees, a drink and demanded a toy from the market.

I have driven 160 miles and frankly, wouold LOVE to be having an adult conversatiion, with an adult, who could also make me a cup of tea, bring me some toast tomorrow morning and put the rest of the shelves up in the shed.

fat chance.

hee hee I'm loving those shelves Bes!

AllDirections, I've recently moved house - right headache but well worth it in the end! Is there no chance you can stay slightly longer at current place? I find general daily nattering helps you get moved quicker, have done this both times I've moved. Also point out that even being able to move your stuff in asap would help, even if you can't move in. (If you do this get your contents insurance sorted though). Hope you get something sorted out. Smile

Kayah that's funny - I'm guessing your interviewers didn't ntice them. Grin COngats on getting the job.

Unlikely, that's how I feel most of the time, that my days pass in a blur as I follow my son around wiping his bottom and cleaning up and being responsible. He's well worth it but a night off would be nice!

Mostly I am very content being single, I get the odd twinge but I have becme so independant and self sufficient I cannot imagine sharing my house with another adult full time.

I went out for a chnage on Saturday and hated it. I've been an Lp for over 10 years and my kids are both almost adults so when I go out, I go out alone. Weekends are terrible; fully of families and couples.
As a single, middle-aged, almost empty-nest mum, I am experiencing social death and do wonder if there is any future for me ;o(
