Hello, we have a 7 months old and partner got job offer at Heathrow airport. We live in East Midlands and do not know the area but are considering moving to Twickenham, Walton upon Thames or Weybridge. Would like to know if anybody lives in these areas and could recommend any nice places to live and find out more about mums community and a bit more about the life there. It's a BIG step for us so any help and insight would be very much appreciated ❤️it's hard to start all over again and find new friends takes time 🙏therefore I would like to be in a nice area not to feel that lonely to start of with.

I don’t live there but used to own a house there and worked nearby. It’s a great area! Around the green is very nice as is St Margaret’s. Plus you have the river nearby and Richmond and on the other side great shopping in Kingston... struggling to think of a bad area.... lots of families....not cheap though!

Sorry if it wasn’t clear I was writing about Twickenham.

Thank you so much 😊 I think Twickenham is the winner in my mind anyway ..this only confirmed it. I am a fitness instructor and saw there are some Nuffield and Virgin gyms in the radius of 5 miles which would be perfect for me in terms of getting opportunity to teach fitness again. And Heathrow is within a 30minutes radius by car which kind of ticks all the boxes ❤️❤️xxx

We are aware it's not the cheapest area but still more affordable than Richmond but we are not willing to jeopardise our daughters safety and rather pay more for her to grow up in nice environment 🤗xx

I live nearby and Twickenham is definitely great, there are loads of baby groups there and I always see so many mothers walking round!
I went to NCT classes there and met a bunch of people we still see now (over a year later )
They all live in Twickenham and love it .
(Only thing they dislike is when a rugby match is on and traffic etc is an absolute nightmare!)

Good luck !

I live in Twickenham. I've lived in the area for about 20 years so can tell you pretty much anything you need to know.

East Twickenham/St Margarets is the nicest part to live or Strawberry Hill or Teddington imo. Twickenham High St is pretty dire. There are some nice parts down by the river. It gets cheaper as you travel out towards Hampton. Lots of people relocate toward there as you get more house for your £££.

Traffic can be a pita. I often drive to Richmond/Ham first thing and a 10 minute journey can take me 30/40 minutes in rush hour but going towards Heathrow will be easier though still congested during peak times.

Amazing thank you merdarn89 I might be bombarding you with some questions in the future 😂🙏is Hampton part of Twickenham ? Yes the most important is the commute to Heathrow as I might find some part time job locally in some restaurant or cafe and teach at local gyms on a spare time.
There is quite a variety of gyms and restaurants in the area isn't there ? Thank you sooo much in advance x

No Hampton isn't part of Twickenham but it's next door Grin

There are lots of gyms and restaurants so there will be many opportunities for you. It's a very friendly place. Great schools, lots of lovely parks, the river, loads to do.

Happy to give you any advice.

Are you renting or buying?

It all really depends on your budget!

I live in Hampton - you do get more house for your money, but there are still some v expensive posh bits (as well as not so posh!).
Twickenham itself is great and the children's centres have lots of classes for babies etc.

In terms of our partner getting to work, I’d thoroughly recommend the X26 bus. I use it instead of driving whenever I fly from Heathrow. It’s an express bus and gets you to the airport in no time.

If you look for fitness jobs, check out the Lensbury - it’s pretty amazing.

@merdarn89 thank you I will be definitely in touch really appreciate any help. It's quite risky moving to the area we don't know and sometimes it can be hot and miss. We used to love in Brighton for many years and moving to East Midlands wasn't the best decision 😂xx

@Whatthefoxgoingon we will be renting as we have a mortgage on a house in Easy Midlands. Well our top budget for rent is £1300 per month plus bills looking for two bedroom flat. Hope we can find something decent x

@BowiesJumper would you say Twickenham would be your first choice before Hampton ? X

Twickenham has a bit more going on than Hampton and the train into London is much faster. So yes probably!

£1300 might be a bit tricky. You could also widen your search to Kingston - I can see there are some 2-beds in that price bracket. Kingston has a big, vibrant (and posh) town centre by the Thames. You'd have plenty of opportunities for work locally and DH would be 3 stops from the airport on the X26.

Avoid Kingston? That sounds a bit bizarre. It’s defintely lovely. Compared to places like Twickenham, though, it’s a lot lot bigger and busier. Like a proper big town with a uni (uni students) and shoppers coming from far and wide to its fancy shops (myself included). However, places like North Kingston (Richmond Park is that side) or areas towards Surbiton station are highly regarded family areas with fantastic schools and hefty house prices.

Oh, and Bushey Park is right over the river from the town centre.

We live in Whitton which is fab - sort of between Twickenham and Hampton, cheaper than either, very friendly with a decent high street. And the train line into London is good. You're also close to Hounslow so it's good for Heathrow. Lots of people turn their noses up at Whitton but I promise it's a hidden gem!
