Best resources for times tables?

I’m looking to buy a couple of resources to have at home to help with times-tables, fractions and general other maths and wondered if anyone had any particular things they’d recommend? I know there’s plenty online but I’m trying to avoid even more screen use and would like something physical to be able to use. Many thanks.

What age are you looking for?

We made a massive poster, this was better than anything you can buy as by making it themselves they really engage.

If they are not yet old enough to write the numbers clearly, you write them on cut up squares and get them to stick in the right place.

Also I made two packs of 1-12 cards, shuffled them, laid them out and turned over a pair.

I used to get them to 'test' me a lot, and give wrong answers in the mix, so they corrected me.

For fractions we had Pizza Fraction Fun which got played a lot.

I printed off plenty of worksheets and flashcards from the www.math-salamanders.com website.

Times Tables Heroes is a nice board game - it has a city game and a bingo game, both based on spinning 2 dials and multiplying the answers. It has 2 different difficulty levels (1,2,5,10) and an answer checker.

Orchard toys games are good. We have a pack of times tables snap cards bough in aldi once....but they need to know the basics to use the.. we have a game called super hoo-haa which is 8, 12 and 14 times tables.

But times table bingo is always good. And just spending 10 minutes asking each other questions. It's the quick recall they need.

Personally I like times table songs and rhymes - mr demaio etc

We made playing cards with a sum ;eg 3 x 5 on one side, and the answer in the other. Laid them out on the table sim side up and the dc had to try and get the answer, then turned it over to check.

Thanks all - I’d seen the orchard toys games so good to know they are good. Lots of other helpful suggestions too, much appreciated!

We used the Percy Parker songs to help reinforce times tables. m.youtube.com/watch?v=A8cCyQTkRgI

Times Table Rock Stars or TTRS is excellent, online resources better and more engaging than others.
