We know from discussions we've seen on the boards that many of you have concerns about home learning during this period. We've seen questions about everything from how much your children should be doing, or help with specific areas of the curriculum, to supporting children who have SEN or behavioural challenges, worries about children with low mood or mental health difficulties, and concerns about difficult family situations (eg money and housing) or the availability of tech for home learning.

So we're really pleased to be supporting this new initiative: StarLine - a brand new telephone helpline, launched today, giving parents and carers access to a team of qualified teachers and professional parenting experts focussing on providing practical ideas, support and reassurance.

It will offer tips, techniques and resources to enable parents and carers to give their children the support they need to continue learning while the schools are (mostly) closed.

It also aims to support family wellbeing and mental health by covering questions about behaviour, wellbeing and SEND as well as all phases of education and areas of the curriculum.

StarLine says: 'Parents and carers will be guided to help their children create routines and study habits, offering practical steps to take and access to quality resources. Parents phoning the helpline may require support with a specific topic, such as algebra or English, or simply be looking for tips about how to structure the day, deal with difficult behaviour or manage the needs of several children.'

The group behind the helpline includes an array of academy trusts, and staff from the Triple P Parenting Programme, and it's backed by the Department for Education and the new Oak National Academy.

It's available to any parent or carer anywhere in England.

StarLine's team of experts can be contacted on 0330 313 9162 (calls are charged at your provider's local landline rate).

Lines will be open, from today, at the following times:
Monday and Wednesday - 8am to 4pm and 7pm to 10pm
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - 10am to 4pm
Sunday - 10am to 1pm
