Free Zoom drawing workshops for kids

Hi everyone - i hope you’re all safe and well.

I just wanted to let you know of some free resources I’m providing for children to help during this difficult time.

I’m providing free live drawing workshops for kids of any age using Zoom - the same workshops I tour schools and literary festivals with.

The way it’s been working so far is by way of connecting with friends who are in school WhatsApp groups or other friendship groups, like neighbours or clubs. They prepare the interest amongst themselves, get in touch and then we set up a time and draw-along for about 30 minutes. It’s lots of fun and educational but the best bit is when the children see their friends and classmates, who they haven’t seen for a while, on screen and their faces light up and beam with joy. It’s really personal and feels different to watching a YouTube video.

There are absolutely no strings attached, it’s completely free and it’s as simple as getting in touch, letting me know you have a group or groups interested and we set up a time.

Most groups are repeating every week now and we’re progressing through new drawings.

I don’t have a website, as this is all new and word of mouth, but you can see how it works and some examples on an Instagram page I have set up called @easy.as.sav:

I’ve also uploaded some colouring and activity sheets.

I’m happy to set up a ‘mumsnet’ session this week if anybody out there is interested or needs 30 mins to themselves to do non-child related stuff - many parents have thanked me for this!

About me: I’m an award winning children’s illustrator, named Sav Akyuz, published with Walker Books, Bloomsbury and Oxford University Press. I’m a regular on the literary festival circuit and schools tour and my books are widely available online and in book shops (when they open again). I’m passionate about keeping our children engaged and alive creatively during this time and am happy to do what I can to help.

I’m new to mumsnet so please forgive me if I’ve posted in the wrong section or incorrect content.
