BSL/subtitled Resources for GCSE Subjects

Obviously, it's all a bit shit at the moment and online learning has only been going for a week, but I'm trying to find GCSE specific resources for Deaf children - understandably, parents are not happy that there are inaccessible resources on Google Classroom/Zoom and the translation services are trying to cope with everything at the moment.

Obviously, the best case would be that teachers automatically only post subtitled audio/video (and not the word salads that You Tube automatically generates), and parents are quite pissed off with the offer to transcribe anything/provision of transcriptions rather than being able to follow in real time. But they're human and haven't necessarily been able to find properly accessible resources - if you search for GCSE resources for BSL learners, you just get the usual 'how to teach a six year old to say hello' type of stuff.


Are there any decent GCSE subject resources with BSL/proper subtitles? At this rate, we're going to have a load of extremely frustrated and angry parents and disillusioned kids because they're feeling like they've been forgotten. Which, to be honest, in some cases, they have been.

Have you tried BBC Teach? Class clips on different subject areas with good subtitles.

Apart from that, an interpreter would be required, especially for live stuff. Do they normally have a CSW or ToD? Can you contact them for help?

Let's just say the external support organisation is - limited - at present non fucking existent when there's money to be made through interpreting Zoom conferences for corporations and we're trying to do our best when the parents have endured years of provision and attitudes so poor as could reasonably be seen as deliberately incompetent, so they are tending to react to anything other than an entire curriculum for all children tailored specifically for Deaf Children first as the most heinous insult to their children.

Sigh. It's been a tough day. I'm just trying to help by finding resources for teaching staff to use, as I agree with them. I just don't like the written equivalent of being shouted out multiple times in one day. Especially when it's not a normal day, it's 7 school days into a literal bloody plague and I've had the virus in that period.

Anyhow, rant over again (deep breaths) and thank you. I'll check those out to see whether any of them correspond with the exam boards and syllabuses.
