Hi, I've been trying to get my kids (8 and 11) to do a bit of school work everyday, but as actual sitting and writing has proven difficult we've been weaving times tables, division, time telling, reading and list writing into everyday life during lockdown. I got an email from the school today 'Any other work that xxxx has been doing, please don't hesitate to forward to me, so I can keep any evidence....JUST IN CASE we go back to school' has sent me into a panic. I haven't kept any evidence! And it wouldn't be accurate anyway, I've probably only got about 10% of written evidence,
Has anyone else's school requested this? Why would the teacher need evidence of school work? It's going to be massively inaccurate....

Evidence can be as simple as a written note explaining what you have been doing.

I’ve got a folder of stuff for DD but I’m a teacher. I found a load of activities and, when she finishes one, I pop it in the folder. If she writes a letter to someone, I photocopy it and it goes in the folder. I’m that kind of person though.

I’m not expecting the children in my class to do the same. We gave them home-learning packs so I’ll probably just get some of those back.

I’ve got three children in school. 11, 7 and 5, I have a folder for each child and I keep everything, all the working outs, all the pictures. Don’t worry too much though, their will be some parents unable or unwilling to homeschool so I would assume some general test is going to have to be done to get the ability of all children when they go back and I’m sure your children will be able to tell their teacher if they’ve already learnt something that they begin to teach. Reading is key, read, read, read x

My school have asked for this. I've been snapping photos of them doing the activity and sending them, getting the dc to write a couple of sentences while I cook their tea about what they've done etc. It doesn't need to be loads. If they make any art - keep it in a folder.

Nothing will happen if they don't get any evidence though.

I very much doubt that teachers will have time to check what everyone has learnt during the lockdown by going through kids' folders... Don't worry; you're doing great.
