Does anybody know anything about the proposed free school for Richmond? I have looked at their website www.richmondfreeschool.org.uk but it all seems a bit vague.

Would definitely be interested in finding out more too, so just marking my place...

Vague is the word. I had a look at this website and quite bluntly found the whole thing to be complete and utter garbage. The whole oprgainsation proposing this jumped up dame school in called Nexus education. Have a look at the 'Nexus approach to education' section. The part where the old cove who wrote it started crapping on about teaching pupils about the wine industry in ancient Rome made me laugh so much I almost spilt my Chianti.

Google 'Nexus education' and you come up with a near identical site proposing a Free School in Ealing. Really, they just seem to be a load of amateurs in the worst sense of that word.

There's another thread on this already. Have to say I agree with Panteramum. Nexus approach is utter guff and the idea that every teacher will be outstanding... not even statistically possible!

I've also been emailed about the proposed Catholic Secondary school from the local Humanist Association. That sounds like a load of guff too with less than 10% of borough being Catholic and being short of two secondary schools hmm

Update on site. They're going for Twickenham site. Tad surprising that they think the need is most "acute" there. Might be for primaries (?), but three secondaries serve mainly local twickers catchment and get best marks in borough, while other areas have fewer options. They say there'll be buses and admissions richmond-wide, but seems a bit far-fetched - what will criteria be? My main concern is how it will fit in with trying to improve current schools and borough-wide policy for two new secondaries - I suppose the answer is that's not their problem as it's by definition independent... www.richmondfreeschool.org.uk/index.php/the-site
