Talk to me about Canterbury

I need to stay in Canterbury this weekend for work and I'll have all day Sunday to myself.

Where's good to go, what nice, local shops do you have, anything I must see? So far the only thing on the agenda is dinner at Oscar Bentleys on Saturday.

Looking forward to just wandering and exploring smile

(bump)

Any recommendations?

The Marlowe Theatre is there
Canterbury Cathedral
Shops open all day
Loads of tea shops and chain restaurants
It’s heaving all the time as there are 2 universities plus its ya know, a City
Sometimes you can go on a boat up and down the waterway bit, that may be summer only

Go behind Debenhams toward the cathedral bit for more quirky shops
There’s and Ann Summers and. Primark 😉

The Roman Museum and the Beany Collection are both good and nice and small, so make a good interlude between shopping and eating. Good charity shops if that's your thing-but maybe not on Sundays. Not many quirky shops any more sadly. If you fancy the sea slide Whitstable isn't far and does have quirky shops. Much more wander friendly too........

Have a cocktail at the Wild Goose bar:

Find a 'secret' tranquil garden with a medieval chapel just off the High Street:

Enjoy a healthy lunch in a stylish cafe:

Buy some early Christmas presents in the Cathedral shop:

Have a drink in a pub dating back to the 14th century:

Enjoy!

Go to Tiny Tims Tearoom. Sort of opposite waterstones. Have a cup of tea and then go upstairs to see the haunted rooms...

How was your weekend @dontqoutemeondailymail

dontquotemeondailymail Mon 30-Oct-17 16:24:29

It was really lovely, thanks Bastard!

Had tea & scones at Tiny Tims, cocktails at the Falstaff and about 5000 calories in Creams grin

I really liked it, and yes, there are lots of chains there but I didn't eat or drink in a single one as all the local places were so much more full of character.

Thanks for all your suggestions x
