MEND PROGRAMME - FREE Healthy lifestyle course for families in Greenwich.
The MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition...Do it!) 10-week healthy lifestyle programme is available to families with children aged between 7 and 13 who are above a healthy weight. The after school sessions take place twice a week and aim to improve fitness and overall health.
On the programme, families learn how to read food labels, they are shown the effect different foods may have on their health and wellbeing as well as learn about healthy portion sizes and family routine. During the course children take part in a wide variety of fun physical activities and games to improve their fitness and self-esteem.
The FREE course was developed in partnership with child health experts at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Independent research conducted by the University College London?s Institute of Child Health found that children who attended the MEND programme experienced long-term health benefits, including weight loss and improvements in fitness and self-esteem.
This course equips families with skills and knowledge to become healthier and fitter for life. On the MEND programme children quickly make new friends and really enjoy trying out the different activities on offer.
