Small? Really? This Sept intake is over 600,so how will they fit all those children into the other school?

So because your child travels 10 miles by your own choice then everyone else can?

TBH i dont care if you sign or not, free choice and all that...

I know the schools you're talking about and I won't sign.

All of the counties resources are stretched at the moment and it does seem madness to keep a small school open, when there is one perfectly adequate to the children's needs less than a mile down the road.

My daughter travels 10 miles by bus to school every day, which I pay for I don't see it unreasonable to ask your children to travel a little further.

I agree with you, your results are getting better & that is partly due to the smaller class sizes your school now has.
This is about more than not wanting to send our children to a school miles away,we want to send our kids to our local school where there is a sense of community & where they can achieve the best they can.

Anyway there is a special meeting on Sept 5th of the executive committee so fingers crossed we will all get the outcome our children deserve.

I know which schools ur on about here and i understand ur points. But the 'failing' school is not actually failing it simply has a bad name and no one is willing to give it a chance, results are actually getting better!

To me, it seems a bit small minded I am afraid. I understand that you want what's best for your kids, but what about the children at the less good school? Doesn't everyone deserve a decent education?

Can anyone please sign this petition or offer any advice to us,we live in a semi/town that started out as a village but has grown in size, our primary, junior & secondary are all on seperate sites & are all excellent in standard.

Our secondary is slightly over subscribed from the nearest town,2.5 miles away, their secondary is failing & numbers are decreasing yr by yr.

Our secondary is rated 5th in Wales, failing secondary is 75th,the council have just dropped a bombshell on us that they are in consultation to close our school & merge it into the failing school.

The failing school building is in a bad state of repair, has a terrible bullying record,& also the council have said they will not be providing school transport so all pupils will have to either walk down a country lane that has no footpath or get dropped off by parents.

The council is also planning on building an additional 400+ houses near the failing school so where will all those potential school children go?

They want to merge the primary & junior & put them into the secondary building & sell off the land from them to then build houses on.

Obviously we are fighting this as hard as we can as we have a lovely school with manageable class sizes,it has a happy atmosphere & really gets results. In fact they get the 13 yr olds to sit some GCSE's & they have all just passed their Chemistry with A's.

We have a meeting this Wed with the LEA & councillors & i have contacted BBC Wales,HTV & our local press,if you could please sign our community would be really grateful & i'll come round & do your ironing or scrub your floors

I am in work later today so if you could keep this bumped please?

Thankyou for reading.
