Just bumping for you pati. I'm from the UK but have met a few international mums through antenatal classes and playgroups.

Are you pg or do you already have dc? smile

pati6b Mon 10-Aug-15 21:08:53

Oh congratulations! How exciting. I went to NCT & some at Leighton Hospital, both of which were very good. Are you doing any? Did you know that you can go to events like your local NCT meet ups, playgroups and Bfing support groups before your baby arrives? They are a great way to meet local Mums and Mums-to-Be thanks

where do I find: NCT meet ups, playgroups and Bfing support groups? Are they free of charge?

Voicesinmyear Wed 12-Aug-15 12:30:55

They usually aren't free but the charge is minimal. I know when I went to an not group the charge was entirely voluntary.

Whereabouts are you? Maybe some poster could point you in the right direction smile

The antenatal course we attended at the hospital was free but the nct do charge for theirs, however there are subsidies available if you are are benefits or are a student etc and you can also pay in instalments. They are good as they are in small groups, so you get plenty of chances to ask questions and often include a meet up once all the babies have arrived.

Im based in Warrington smile

Just done a massive post and MN has logged me out, again, so if you don't mind, I'll do a few posts with the links.

You might not meet any international Mums, but I did meet a few through the NCT so you never know smile

Here are some free antenatal courses.

Voicesinmyear Wed 12-Aug-15 13:13:48

Breastfeeding support groups. They may charge but usually it's free or a couple of pounds that will include a drink and biscuits.

Voicesinmyear Wed 12-Aug-15 13:15:05

Local NCT groups. Again they may charge but the charge for groups is usually voluntary.

Voicesinmyear Wed 12-Aug-15 13:18:52

Local NCT courses. There will be a charge for these but there are educed price options and you can in instalments.

There groups are small and friendly and you will meet parents, local to you, who are due around the same time.

Did you know there is an MN Warrington group too? Only just seen this myself. If you ask they editor, she may put out a tweet for you asking if there are any other international mums around smile

No problem Ed. Hope you've had a nice time smile

pati how are you getting on now? smile

pati6b Sat 17-Dec-16 19:53:47

Hiya I haven't met many mums unfortunately 😅😅😅

Voicesinmyear Sun 18-Dec-16 15:03:27

Are you looking to meet more? Have you tried the local playgroups?

CheshireEditor Mon 02-Jan-17 19:43:01

Have you started any ante-natal classes yet? This is the best place to start to meet other Mums, it's kind of like dating, you meet people you like/don't like and ask them out for a coffee. Ask your midwife about ante-natal classes as they can vary from area to area. It's early days in your baby journey and I'm sure you will meet lots of new mums to be in the months to come.
