Hi everyone smile
Has anyone had experience with both NCT classes and the company 'Bump to Cradle' in Bristol? Both look great but just want to invest our time wisely in the run up to the birth!
Many thanks, Tara

I realise this doesn't answer your message/ question, and I don't even live in Bristol, but where I live out local NHS hospital did a one day ante natal class which I found far more informative and practically useful than our NCT one. I found that in terms of meeting other mums activities such as playgroups and things at the local children's centre were best?

Thanks @redcaryellowcar, will look into that!

Worth looking into the NHS classes - they are bigger than something like NCT classes but on the other hand, you are more likely to meet parents to be who live near enough to meet up for coffee etc.
And will second the childrens centres - they're always getting funding cut back sad but worth checking what groups they run.

I second that comment about NCT versus the NHS session. I didn't find NCT very helpful in terms of equipping us with information (they really skirted over the processes of induction/pain relief etc just dismissing them as 'things to avoid') whereas in reality, I suspect the bulk of the group had to have some kind of medical intervention eventually - we weren't all natural home birth types!

The group could have been good for meeting other parents but there were only 4 couples on ours so quite small. Some of my mates have had better luck meeting new friends via NCT- generally the advice seems to be use it for making friends not for thorough, balanced information! Good luck

Hi, sorry we've taken a while to pick up on this thread. Bump to Cradle cover a similar theme to NCT, but with a few key differences (at least we think we do!).

1. We spend more time on women's health and the realities of childbirth, i.e. medical intervention

2. The main difference is that our speakers are all specialists in their field, so you get each area from an expert - check us out www.bumptocradle.com

Please get in touch if you want to discuss mim@bumptocradle.com
