I'm recommending these Art Workshops for Kids (full details below) as not only will they be great fun but this is a test year by the university to see if there is a need for these kind of events in Lancaster. I really think there is and if these workshops are a success then there will be more next year - not only in art but theatre and music as well - for a much wider age-range of children.

Three fun and creative workshops taking place with a variety of local artists aimed at slightly differing age ranges.

All workshops are £5 per child per workshop and this includes a juice and biscuit break. The Great Hall cafe-bar will be open, serving hot drinks and snacks for parents wanting to stay on site for the duration of the workshop and perhaps catch up on the newspapers. The Land Art for Kids workshop is for children and adults with free attendance for adults accompanied by a responsible child!

A chance to explore the current exhibition in the Peter Scott Gallery with exhibiting artist Pete Flowers of Green Close Studios.Working with watercolours and postcards, create your own work of art for display in the gallery.

A Secret Garden
Saturday May 22nd 2010 | 10.30am-12.30pm | 10 places available for 5-7 yr olds
Come on a winding adventure through the Making Time Garden, digging and planting, exploring flowers and seeds and perhaps meet a worm or two! The garden is created by resident artists Jonathan Raisin & Elizabeth Willow who will be leading the journey.

Land Art for Kids
Saturday June 5th 2010 | 10am-12pm | 20 places available for 5-10 yr olds
Come and join land artists Julia Brooklyn and Richard Shilling to learn how to create fascinating art using only natural materials.All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult - maximum three children per adult
