Nice sounding Autumnal Activity in Castle Park...

Hiya. This sounds lovely - if it doesn't pour down with rain.

It is to be held in a lovely setting by
the old bowls pavilion in lower castle park, Colchester and there will be
gazebos up if the weather is not nice. If it is nice, it should be a lovely
morning with a few autumn crafts for the children and a refreshment stall
for adults. In brief there will be:-

Making a bird feeder from windfall apples to hang in your garden
Modelling a bat mobile
Cooking an apple smile and decorating pumpkin biscuits
Making autumn leaf masks
Crafting a pretty paper bird

suggested donation of £1 per child to the
?Friends of Castle Park?.

Maybe see some of you there?

Damn - can't make it either. Sounds good, though. I always mean to go to Castle Park more often.

I went last year and it is fantastic (didn't I bump into you Pooter as you were leaving with Skippety?). It was a really beautiful autumnal day and it was such a wonderful setting. I'd really recommend it. Unfortuantely I cannot make it this year.

yes mung - we planned to go but DS refused to go into the bowling green area so we had a change of plan. Im hoping he is more mature at 2.5 and will let me help him make all those cool things!

btw, skippety sounds like a pet lamb - its snippety (dont know what that sounds like!)

Sounds lovely. I should be able to make it, will have to leave at about 11.30 as annoyingly my parents are turning up to whip the kids into a frenzy for the afternoon then leave us to deal with the aftermath at bedtime.

What time are you going down, Pooter? Haven't seen you for ages so would be great to catch up. Have you got my mobile number? FB me if you need it.

Hi SP - cool someone else can come! We will be there at the start probably. I dont have your mobile no, but at teh mo i am without a mobile, so no point! I have been mobileless for about 3 months and am finding it hard to muster up the energy to sort myself out. Im hoping DH will take pity on me and look for it, find it, charge it up and put money on it, and place it into my hands

hope to see you there - i will be the whale-like pregnant woman trying to control a whirlwind.

I have my friend from Brighton visiting that day so it might be the perfect thing for us to do with the kids for the day. She is a lovely friend without her own kids who loves to amuse mine and take the heat off for me - what a star!! Hopefully she will be here in time to make it - I would never attempt it with the three kids on my own!!

Hope to see you pooter and sparkly.

Daisycat are you new to MN Local? If you want to meet up with any of us at any point just say the word!!

Would love to come, but working in London that day,and the DD's have been invited to a Halloween Party in the afternoon,so trying to figure a way of getting them to it,by leaving London early enough! Have fun.

So where were you all?
It was really nice - DS made a cool bat he has named 'spooky' out of plasticine and leaves and twigs. It actually looks really cute. He also made a bird feeder out of a pinecone and yuckky lardy nut mix, a scary mask from leaves, and an apple, peanut butter and marshmallow mouth. I think he was most impressed with the little cake decorated as a spider's web and jumping aournd the bowling green.

I think we may be carving our pumpkin this afternoon! Im enjoying DS being that little bit older so we can do more stuff!

I went - probably missed you as I was a bit late. We made the bats too. Although we lost the 'wings' on the way back through the park so ended up with mice on strings !
