Have I done the right thing?

My dd3 had a place at the local state nursery mornings only, but we were struggling to find a childminder to have her in the afternoons - belive I've mentioned this before - anyway, I e mailed the childminding co-ordinator there for help, as was advised to, and to be honest, was extremely upset by her curt attitude and quite frankily rude response. I have since found out that complaints have been made about her before as she supposedly does not use all registered childminders but pretty much chooses who she wants to use, which i think is awful. Basically, no help whatsoever was forthcoming so we are putting dd into a private day nursery. I had arranged all this and am quite happy about it, but now have found out that there are several registered and very good cm's with appropriate spaces, in the area we need who should have been contacted by this person. I am steaming! have called the nursery and left a very forthright message about this behaviour as I really feel she is not making enough effort to help people. Am I out of order?

I didnt even know there was such a thing as a childminding co-ordinator!

I doesnt sound like you're being unreasonable - I mean if she's not doing her job then why not complain? There are going to be other people out there looking for assistance in the future and if they are being mislead when they think they are asking someone with the knowledge then thats pretty pants in my book.

Is it a paid role or voluntary?( paid makes it worse, but still no good having a voluntary worker who doesnt do the job correctly)

coolma - is that the lady at homerton? I spoke to her yesterday and she said she'd send a round robin email for me to try and help find a spot for dd. If she's not actually doing that, looks as if I'll need to get back on the phone...

she will send you a round robin, but it will be of the same childminders that are on opportunity links. The reason I got in touch with her is because those childminders on opp links had no spaces. Basically I got the list, a comment that I would 'find it difficult to get anyone' and 'let me know when you find someone so I don't have to waste my time sending needless e mails'. Have heard nothing since.

Good Luck
